Staying in Trevi
Our group of seven is planning a trip to Umbria in June of 2010. We are planning to rent a villa or vacation house rather than stay at hotels or bed and breakfast inns. In deciding where to stay in Umbria, we found that the town of Trevi is a good location for the areas we would like to visit. We would like to know if anyone has any comments on staying in Trevi. We would like to have access to some good restaurants and food markets in the town. Does anyone have any information about how well this would work?

I have been to Trevi on several occasions and it it a very nice place. Another town you should visit in the area is TODI; very midevil and quaint. That whole area is lovely; make sure you pick up at least one piece of the local ceramic (called majolica) from the artists in Deruta, also nearby.

Trevi is a good location. It's between Gubbio and Spoleto and an easy drive to both Assisi and Perugia. You'll probably want to visit all of them. We stayed near Lago Trasimeno once and loved it. It's a little far but try to visit Orvieto. It is just lovely. Todi has already been mentioned here.
Do you have a vacation house yet? We used http://www.holiday-rentals.com/World/r1.htm and had great luck. We also have rented by doing a search for the town web site and then looking for accomodation links. We prefer the agriturismo rather than villas. These are working farms so there is always something going on that is interesting and you do get to know the owners.
It's a beautiful area. We chose Assisi for our 44th anniversary this year and had a wonderful time. Have a great trip.
