Advance Notice of a visit to Breuil-Cervinia.
"Torino, the Olympics, and the Alps."
There are several similarities between Calgary and Torino, both from a size and location point of view.
They include the proximity to the mountains, the manner in which each city has made vast efforts to make accessible the banks of the rivers flowing thru each City. In Calgary the Bow river is flanked by pathways and park areas, this is much the same along the banks of the Po in Torino.
Some differences are the history that is ever present in Torino, while the history in Calgary as a City is little more that 125 years old.
In time as I hope to explore Torino I will enlarge on what I find and add it to this page.
The first chapter is really about the mountains to the north where Breuil- Cervinia is located. A vast area of snow in winter and which produces some great ski ing on the slopes of Mount Cervino.
Yes Mount Cervino, it may look vaguely familiar to some of you great travellers of the Alps. Could it be a mirror image of another mountain?
If you come back to this page some time in the future I will let you know another name for the mountain.
Mean time I will show you a snow scene not taken by me, that I have yet to visit.
I am fortunate in receiving this photo from a friend, I am indebted to Andrea Miola for the photo as he and an American friend took to the slopes.

Ski without borders!
