Under the shoulder of a giant!
"Snow sure and compact"
La Thuile rests on a plateau under the shelter on Mont Blanc (the highest mountain in Europe -If we don't count the Urals) and therefore has its own little micro climate which seems to attract snow.
It is at the end of the Aosta Valley and does not get crowded like its near neighbour Courmayeur.
The village is quite compact and most of the accommodation is centred around the Planibel complex.
There is an easily skied link to La Rosiere in France (where the best skiing is for intermediate and advanced skiers) but there is about a mile of drag lifts to get back (boring), prices in La Thuile are very reasonable (unlike La Rosiere) and food was superb as you would expect in Italy.
