A Day out of Rome
"A Dead Day"
I was insistant on getting out of Rome for at least a day. My mom and I walked to the train station. I picked the only city name I recognized from the area leaving within the half hour. We paid 10 euro for 2 return tickets and we were off.
A long trainride with some interesting scenery led us to the little town of Velletri. Once out of the station, we found a nice little restaurant to eat at. Great food and very cheap! The local wine was pretty good and the service was friendly despite the language barier.
After lunch we decided to walk around town. As it was Sunday, NOTHING was open. But it didn't look like anything much would be going on even if things were open. So, we wandered back down the hill and waited for the next train back to Rome.
We had some lovely views of the mountains and good food, but left with not much else.
