More about Hotel Caesius Thermae Spa
My wife and I have just returned from a two week stay at the hotel Caesius Bardolino, Lake Garda. It was our first visit to this kind of destination (lakes & mountains) and we were not sure what to expect; we need'nt have worried.
The Hotel... was incredible, the rooms are large and all equiped to a very high standard with everything you could wish for from hair dryer (for the ladies) to slippers, bath robe, pool towels, tv, safe, etc.etc. No expense has been spared on the decor and fittings.
The restaurants....are superb with the main restaurant having a different menu every night. The waiters, as you would expect ,are all immaculate in their dress and manner and cannot do enough for you....watch out for Allesandro the comedian (see yooo Jimmy). The food quality is out of this world and the fresh pasta dishes are scrumptious. The Augustus restaurant is a set menu and appears to alternate between fish and meat, here is our only minor gripe....if you're vegetarian then you wont be using this restaurant.
The public areas, bars etc as the rest of this hotel are brilliant, the only minor nit pick is as a previous reviewer has said slightly lack some atmosphere (but not quite sure what).
The pools....are all immaculate with plenty of sun beds available and we found that you could get one at any time of day without problem.
There is a gym & health spa, which we didnt use but spoke to people who did and they informed us that ,like the rest of the facilities everything in there was top quality.
The walk into Bardolino takes about 25minutes at a steady pace, we enjoyed walking there after dinner and sitting in a bar with a G&T watching the world go by....superb.
You can hire bicycles at the hotel (4euros for half a day, 6 for the full day) which we did several times. the path which runs along the side of the lake provides a safe track. We rode to Lazise, Bardolino, Garda all within easy reach even for novice cyclists.
Around & about......Malcesine is worth a visit, lovely cobbled streets with shops, boutiques etc. I would recommend going on the public buses which are air conditioned and very comfortable. You can buy your ticket in advance in any tobaconist shop or on the bus itself but its 1 euro extra to buy on the bus. The ferries are good also but seem to take ages. From Malcesine you can get a shuttle ferry to Limone spend a couple of hours there then come back, all for 7 euros. We went to the opera at Verona, not my personal cup of tea, but the experience was well worth it even though we did get drenched in the thunder storm which appeared just before the final act.
In summary we would deffinitely go back to the hotel Caesius and would have no hesitation recommending it to any of our friends.
The best hotel i ever stay.
This hotel is the best i ever stayd. I dont now the previous wrigters where staying in this hotel but a lot of things they telling aren't correct.
Bardolino center is about 15 min. tot go. The staff is verry nice and verry helpfull. Everything is verry clean and the eating is perfect !
I now where to go for holiday next year !!!
Best hotel in Bardolino
We have just returned after staying 7 nights at Hotel Caesus.
The whole experience at this hotel was totally fantastic.
Service and attitude from staff was beyond duty.
The decor in hotel is absolute perfection.
All combining to produce a totally relaxing experience.
The stroll into Bardolino is only about 15 minutes and about 45 minutes to Lazisie. Both well worth a visit.
A great hotel & highly recommended
My wife & I have also just returned from a week at the Caesius on Lake Garda. The hotel is now much larger than the 68 rooms quoted on this description and it's facilities are excellent. Yes we could find some minor faults, for example there isn't a lot of atmosphere there & some nice backgrount Italian music would help here. However, overall it certainly lives up to it's 4*S rating.
Room - We had a standard & it was large & comfortable with large beds and a decent sized balcony. There was a flat screen TV on the wall, but more English channels would be good. There is a mini-bar & safe in your room as well as bathrobes, slippers & a beach bag to use. The bathroom was roomy, modern & with everything you would expect from a quality hotel.
Food - Main restaurant is mainly waiter service, the food is excellent & there is a different menu each night with plenty of choices. It is 4 courses, plus a salad bar. There is also the Augustus, which is bookable at no extra cost and the outside eating area overlooks the lake. It's a 7 course set menu, alternating between meat & fish each night. Decent wines (Pino, Bardolino etc.) are available for 10-20 Euros a bottle, so very reasonable. Breakfast is buffet style, with a wide range of options.
Pool areas - 3 main pools to chose from & with various spa/bubble areas. The main pool is very large and around 5 feet deep at all points. There are plenty of sun beds & umbrellas around them, but not too much room to angle them to/from the sun.
Indoor facilities - An excellent large indoor pool & spa areas plus some excellent spa & health therapy areas. A pleasant bar & outside areas to sit, drink & eat in. Many areas are reached via your hotel swipe card for the room so it is very secure, but almost too secure at times.
Location - It's across the road from the lake, about 5 mins from the local small town & harbour & 15-25 mins from Bardolino itsself (25 mins being the harbour & centre of town). It's a lovely walk along the lake front, so we didn't mind the location at all. There is also a free bus to & from Bardolino, but we never used it. If you dont like walking & want to be right in the middle of town, this hotel may not be for you. Bardolino is a lovely historical town & we stumbled across a free concert there one evening, which was excellent. The shops are also good & should you want to eat away from the hotel (dont know why), there are lots of very nice looking restaurants. There is also an excellent ice cream parlour right by the harbour.
Tips - The hotel/travel company offer a wide range of trips, but also a free one (book it early) with a four hour trip on the lake on a sailing boat which takes around 24 people. You need to have reasonable sea-legs for this & I found it great fun.
Trips - We visited the Dolomite Mountains, the Opera in Verona (Carmen) and a whole day trip around the lake, mainly by coach. All were excellent and there is a marked contrast between the Northern & Southern end of the lake (North is very hilly). There are many beautiful towns dotted around the lake. There was even some snow up high in the Dolomites.
Weather - it was pleasantly hot in August, but do expect some rain as it's not Green for nothing.
Lake Garda - It was our first trip there & it was beatiful. The lake is over 30 miles long & up to 11 miles wide at it's Southern end. The coach trip from Verona airport is about 40 minutes.
We would both thoroughly recommend this hotel & area & we have stayed in many good hotels around the world.
We booked the hotel after reading the good reviews and then the bad ones appeared. Most of the negative comments are absolute rubbish. It is true to say that the walk into Bardolino is not 10 minutes and actually 25 (we timed it), but it is a nice walk alongside the lake. The hotel is run extremely well and is impossible to criticise it in any way. Our only bad comment is that as we booked with a tour operator we were given the poorest rooms, ground floor back, facing the staff carpark and above the kitchens which are a bit noisy. When we go next year we will pay extra for a better postioned room. The pool area is superb with jacuzzi's in one of the pools and a large swimming area, there are lots of sunbeds. The highlight is the food, all excellent quality and well presented, but with an appitiser before the starter and a salad bar etc. they expect you to eat far too much!! The staff are great, from reception to bars and restaurant. A very, very professional hotel.
The Caesius Hotel, just a 15 minute walk from Bardolino is simply perfect.
My senses were totally indulged thanks to the beauty of the gardens and the views of the lake, the subtle sounds of soft music throughout the grounds, the fluffy bathrobes & outdoor hydromassage pool, the smell of freshly made pastries each afternoon and the fantastic tastes and textures of the food at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Along with the friendly and attentive service, and the obvious attention to detail, the Caesius Hotel provides everything for the perfect holiday.
My one regret - we were there only a week.
Heaven on earth at the Caesius
The whole experience was unreal, the best hotel I have ever stayed in in terms of comfort, facilities, friendliness, and the food was to die for .The facilities were second to none and the location excellent.
Had a great stay at this Hotel. The food and service was wonderful, and the staff very helpful and friendly. Location was a 15 minute walk from Bardolino Center, along the lake side so nice and flat. The rooms were nice and big, and we liked the way that the dining rooms were divided into sections, so that you didn't feel that you were in a big hotel. All in all I would recommend this Hotel to anyone.
17th September, 2006.
We have just had two amazing weeks at this wonderful hotel. The facilities include 4 outdoor pools (1 for children) with built in spas and 1 indoor heated pool also with spas. There is a well equipped gym, saunas and steam room with aromatherapy showers. The gardens are beautiful with olive groves and pomegranate trees. The rooms are spacious, spotless and very well detailed. The staff are the freindliest in Europe and could not be more helpful. Half board terms include 6 course dinner with waiter service and the food is first class.
We can't wait to go back. Worth every penny.
Back last week after 2 weeks at the Caesius. It's a fantastic hotel and the facilities are brilliant, both the indoor pools and the outdoor ones are very good with the hydro massage jets.
It's about a 20 min walk from Bardolino and a 40 min walk the other way to Lazise but there's also a small village just a couple of minutes away called Cisano that has a couple of restaurants and cafes on the lakeside, handy for lunch.
The food is excellent in the hotel and the staff are very pleasant.
The rooms are modern and well equipped and very clean and the bathrooms are large. You get towels for use by the pool and also a handy bag to use as well.
It's an easy walk to Bardolino along the lakeside to get the ferry but you can also catch buses from Cisano.
We would definetely go back to this hotel.
