I live about 20 minutes from Bassano and can help you out. 4 distinct seasons, mild winters- a couple snowfalls and a handfull of freezing temps...
Also, you don't list where you live, so I can't compare it to where you're coming from. (i.e., milder winters, similar spring/summer/fall as NY).
I reccommend the markets on Saturday morning in the for the fresh produce and the trash and treasure on sunday morning. Then for the afternoon i recommend going to the ultralight airstrip or to the mountian for a flight over this beautiful area. My best memories of Bassano del Grappa are of the people, and the 12th century history. just a simple cappachino in the Piazza is what i miss most.
In June, Bassano invites international street musicians and buskers to perform in a festival. Bassano's annual Opera Estate Festival takes place from early July through August, with alfresco performances of opera, concerts, a mini jazz fest, and dance (ballet, modern, and folk). For information, contact the tourist office.
The bridge has always been rebuilt in wood again except for once in 1524, when it was rebuilt in stone, but with rather poor results as it lasted only for two years.
Not much of a kind left in Italy today and this one is undoubtely the most beautiful, becoming the emblem of the town.
Both entrances to the bridge are embellished by the 1531 marble arcades, while at the farther end one finds the Museo del Ponte degli Alpini (the Museum of the Bridge), where relics and photographic documentationnarrate the history of the bridge.
Beautiful church, the Dome contains some paintings, nothing so important. It is picturesque the Castle of Ezzelini which contains the old Dome.
The bell-tower was originally a castellan tower to the defence of the city.
