Travel Tips for Cortina d'Ampezzo

Church of St. Filippo & Giacomo

by sandysmith

The church of St. Filippo & Giacomo was built in 1775. There are sculptures by Andrea Brustolon, paintings by Francesco A. Zeiler, Giuseppe Zanchi, Luigi Gillarduzzi and Giuseppe Ghedina. Between 1851 and 1858 the tower bell was built. This is today one of the symbols of Cortina.

Alta Badia

by croisbeauty

In case you are not intermediates or competent skier, then I recommend you to leave the area of Cortina behind. The next point is the area of Alta Badia, beautiful nature and ski resort recommendable for novices and cross-country skiing.

Cortina-Jewel of the Dolomites

"Ski Trip"

The ski areas of the Dolomites are famous, especially when you get the Dolomiti Super Pass. The amount of skiing available on one pass is incredible.

This year the snow was pretty bad except for one day. It was a bad year for Euro skiing in general.

Cortina is a fantastic city and fun to walk around in. It is a mix of chic and old mountain city.

In the moutains all around are ruins of fortifications from the First World War.

The summer of '95 I was here climbing. Climbed the big tower and the moutain in the background-the Falzereggo. There is also a famous pass here that leads over to Val Gardena and the Sella area. Its name is Passo de Falzereggo. There is also skiing on that mountain which I did the day after this photo.
