Lake Garda Holiday
Out of the many resorts around Lake garda, my family and i satyed for a week in Garda town. It has a beautiful setting, old cobbled streets, close knit shops and ice cream parlours and a wonderful promenade where you can watch the sun rise and set.
"Travel and accomodation"
We Booked through First choice, the rep we got was amazing and very helpfull. She and her collegue helped us to plan out week in garda. To me it was a Trip of a lifetime and a week was not enough time to spend there.
We stayed in the Hotel Palme, it is one of a trio of hotels situated together. The rooms were basic, but believe me you wont want to stay in your hotel room because there is just so much to see and do! The staff at the hotel were very friendly and tried their best to speek english, they apreciate it when you try to speek italian to them- which can be quite comical! The pool was lovely and there were always sun loungers free. Only bad thing was the concrete ground was covered in ants, however ther are tiny shy lizzards to take care of them!! If your a steak and chips person i would recomend self catering as my dad starved for the week, unable to stomace the octupus, pasta or smoked meat.
On the monday we went to the dolomites by bus. It was a worth while trip but not one foe bad travelers as the bus journey is 4hrs each way!! during this trip there was a few stops in traditional austrian/italian towns, each with their own different trade. From the bus you could see the beautiful scenery and buildings- aswell as the beautiful river which runs through this area. You was get a cable car up to the top of the mountain, thich is around 5000ft high, well worth it for the views!! and cheep too!! It looks as if the mountains are snow capped but its just the colour of the rock, its actualy quite warm at the sumet, my mum was in her vest top! When you come back down you can try some local apple strudle and custard!! On the tuesday we went on a mistery tour. It took us to a beautiul church that was carved into the mountain 300m virticaly up and 100m virticaly down, there is a religious story about the finding of the maradonna here. We then had lunch in a mountain cafe, it was beautiful. On the wed we spent the day in Venice, i dont think i would go back here, it is beautiful but way too buisy, too many pick pockets and because the buildings are soooo close its lik 100 degrees! also, all the shops sell the same thing! the square and pacilica was absolutly stunning! On the thurs we vent for a half day in verona. There wasnt much to do but i would recomend going as there are plenty of stalls and shops, aswell as the ampethetre. On the fri we decided to go on the lake tour, to visit the main local towns. Again i would recomend this as it was a brilliant experiance! all the towns are individual and there are some great photo oppertunities. Our host on the coach was hilerious!
