bergamo airport to malcesine

by tunstall2828

Hi, what is the best and/or cheapest way to get from bergamo airport to malcesine in lake garda, i'm travelling there with my elderly grandmother in June, so don't really want to be walking round much. We also can't afford to pay £500 for a minibus tranfer. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you XXXXXXXX

"Best" would be a limo service, i cannot think they cost so much as you say. Search a little, and ask for prices. I have one service based in Verona in my Verona page.
Otherwise, the best option would be
1) bus to Brescia (the airport site is down at the moment http://www.sacbo.it/ )
2) train (direction: Venice www.trenitalia.com) to Verona or Peschiera del Garda
3) bus to Malcesine: I have details in my Torri del Benaco page, under transportation tips ( http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/4c02d/228a3/9/ ).

Going to Bergamo first would involve a train change in Brescia, dividing the trip in 4.
Going to Milan could be easy, but makes it a long way: Milan is west, and you have to go east.

Hope this helps

I'm afraid that Malcesine is a difficult trip from Bergamo Airport and that the degree of difficulty depends on what time you are scheduled to arrive in Bergamo.

I visited Sirmione a couple of years ago and ended up taking a bus from the airport to the train station and train with one change at Brescia and a bus from Desenzano to Sirmione. Now, I have to say that I quite enjoyed doing that but I never had an elderly relative to care for at the time.

If you have the inclination, you take the train from Bergamo to Verona and the bus from Verona to Malcesine. The train take approx 1hr 45mins with a change at Brescia followed by a 1hr 45min bus journey from Verona to Malcesine.

I cannot see another option though someone on this site may well be able to assist.

Lake Como is nearer and a bit more accesable than Lake Garda to Bergamo, with
Bergamo itself being a lovely town to visit.

Out of interest you might want get a no obligation quote for chauffered car from

I have used them several times before and found them couteous and reliable.

Billy

Hi

The easiest thing to do is find an apartment or a hotel which will organise a transfer for you. I did this recently and it costs 30 euros (for 2 people) to get from the airport to Malcesine.

Hope that helps.

Travel Tips for Malcesine

Cascate di Varone (Waterfall)

by monkeydennis

Found this place by chance on a random drive into the mountains. Its only 3km from Riva and our daughter LOVED it. she actually said it was a sgood as GardaLand!! Its only €5 each adult to go in, kids free. Its a waterfall formed inside a cave over millions of years. Well worth a visit, you will get wet from the mist. Made me laugh to see the stupid people putting on raincoats to go into the cave on a blisteringly hot day :) There is also some fantastic fauna & flora as with the constant water/spray and the hot temperature its plant heaven.
