Best Western Hotel Galileo

The Galileo is a modern hotel that was built in 1907 next to the Padua University's sprawling campus. It is part of the Best Western chain. We stayed there for two nights while visiting Padua in 2011 and enjoyed our stay. The hotel's decor is modern in style, with modern art and furniture in the lobby. The rooms featured contemporary design, which wasn't our style; however, our room was comfortable and had what we needed. We had a larger family room, which included a nice little kitchenette with a table, refrigerator and microwave oven. The rooms are divided between two towers, which are about 100 feet apart. You have to go outside to get from one tower to the other.

The hotel has a restaurant and a swimming pool. Our one complaint was that the swimming pool had limited hours, and only seemed to be open when we were out touring the city and its attractions. The hotel's staff was friendly and helpful. We had a booking mixup (our fault - we booked the wrong day), which the front desk staff was able to deal with in a friendly manner.

The hotel was easy to drive to from the Autostrada. Parking is available in front of the hotel.

The hotel is located adjacent to the university and about a 20 minute (1 mile) walk to the historic city center, which has restricted vehicle access. Taxis are available at taxi stands located around the historic district if you get tired and don't want to walk back to the hotel.
