Cheap and nice accomodation at Padova

by dgediz

Hi,
I will be in Padova/Italy between April 19 and June 25 for the Erasmus Mundus Master of Bioethics. Do you know a cheap but nice place which I can stay with my 10 years old daughter? I may share an appartment too. The size of the place should be at least 27 m2.
Thanks in advance for the information.

Hello, I stayed at the Hotel Belludi 37, and can highly recommend it. Euro 48 for a spacious room with double bed and air conditioning and fridge with complimentary mineral water and Flat screen TV plus a desk.
Bathroom was across the corridor (paper skippers provided) but I never saw anyone else using it. (all the other rooms have a bathroom and cost about euro 20 extra) The bathroom was very clean and had Zen shower gel, shampoo etc.

It is centrally located just near Prato della Valle and the Basilica.

the multilingual staff are helpful and friendly, one is offered a Welcome Drink (ice tea or mineral water or fruit juice) on arrival and you will be given a map of the city and any infrmation you may require.

Free internet access in lobby. And there is a relaxing lounge with comfortable sofas and newspapers and magazines.

Forgot to mention breakfast is is euro7 extra, but it is a very nice buffet breakfast, good coffee, they even make eggs cooked to order.
the euro 48 I paid for a double single occupancy - on their website it says that for a child up to the age of 10 you can get a extra bed for 40 euro.

when my friends came to visit me in Padova, they often stay at http://www.villaalexandra.it/ or http://www.bahiabossa.it/ that is owned by the same person. Both places are a bit out of the very city center but there is a bus service quite often (15-20 minutes) and you can reach the center in 10 minutes.

Travel Tips for Padova

Information booth

by Willettsworld

There's a small tourist information booth on Piazza del Santo by the Basilica of St Anthony. This is where I got my Padova map from. There's also an tourist information office in the main rail station.

Prato della Valle

by croisbeauty

Prato della Valle has been of primary importance in the life of Roman, medieval and modern Padova. The present look of the square was designed by architect Domenico Cerato in 1775 -76. In the middle of it there is an islet, Memmia, and all around there are eighty-seven statues in white stone presenting the famous citizens of the city trough the history.

Bo - the university of Padova

The works of alternation took place between 1542 and 1601, first in charge by Andrea Moroni and upon his death in 1560 Vincenzo Scamozzi took over the work on the palace.
The part that is best preserved in its original aspect is the internal courtyard (1546-1587).
The great entrance by Moroni is monumentally classical and the inscription on it says: "Enter to become every day more learned; go out to be more useful day by day to the country and to Christian society".

FOR CITY STREETS

by BerniShand

Take a day bag, something big enough to hold a bottle of water in addition to your camers, guide book, tissues etc. Padova can be very hot and you dont want to get dehydrated, or spend all your money having to keep stopping for drinks in cafes good walking shoes are a must, many of the older streets are not smooth
sometimes cities can be harder on your feet than hill walking dont bother, you can get everything you need here

parco dell'anfiteatro

by call_me_rhia

Down the road and over the bridge friom the station, and next to the former "convento degli Eremitani" you will find a small park: if you can ignore the drug addicts there you'll have the possibility to see the ruins of a roman theatre where gladiators used to fight. Not much of it is left - but the ruins are still quite interesting: they're tucked away behind the little construction in the middle of the park
