Peschiera del Garda.

by AideenMalone

Going on holiday with family and looking for good italian places to eat that is reasonable and near Peschiera del Garda. Maybe agriturismo farms would be ideal and would provide home produce. We like to eat fresh fish and home grown vegetables.Coming from the west of Ireland we like food that is self grown and fresh! Any help!Open to experience good Italian food and wine. No pizzas please!

Hi,
I only know a little about paschiera. Passed through once in a car but did stop for lunch on the Lungholago(the main road along the southern edge of Lake Garda). Most of the restaurants seem to sell a lot of fish(caught in the lake)and seafood is brought in from the coast.
You'll be hard pushed to find a bad restaurant in Italy. Everything is generally fresh. Try to avoid any establishments with 'Tourist' menus. Altough good they do not have a patch on the places for the locals. You will normally pay less where the locals eat as well.
Trentino is famous for its wines - I'm sure you'll find plenty of good wines to guzzle.
You will find pasta but again,Trentino is more famous for polenta than pasta.

Agriturismo is plentiful in and around Peschiera.
Enjoy

Peschiera is a little out of my restaurants path, but as for wine it is in the middle between the production zones of two really good wines: Lugana and Custoza.
As for Agriturismo, try here:

(fill in the form with "farm holydays" and "peschiera del garda" if result does not show directly)

Travel Tips for Peschiera del Garda

Peschiera is a huge fortress

by croisbeauty

The history of the townlet goes back into the Roman times when area around Lago, where the river of Mincio inflow into the lake, was colonized by the Romans. The settlement, called Arilica, was fortified by the walls in order to protect valuable fishing and transporting importance of the place.
In the medieval times the name of the place was changed into Pischaria.
During Austrian rule, Peschiera became one of the four corners of the "quadrilateral", the other three were Verona, Mantova and Legnago.

"Gardaland - Fantasy Kingdom!!"

Situated in the centre of northern Italy, on the banks of Lake Garda, for more than twenty years Gardaland has represented an important point of reference for entertainment, suitable for all ages and for both Italian and foreign visitors. The park is to be found at Castelnuovo del Garda, between Lazise and Peschiera and only 20 km from Verona. Gardaland is the biggest amusement park in Italy

A nice trip in the basket allowing just 2 persons on each one. You can have a good view of Gardaland while most of the times you come so close to some of the attractions going high up to different directions.
