Miscellaneous Tips, Soave, Italy - Reviews and Hotel Information

We found this place on the Internet - www.agriturismolibero.com and were struck by its beauty! We were not disappointed. A old (?500 year old) farmhouse on a working vineyard, Libero was completely rebuilt in 1999 by its owner Nicola and his father. The house was gutted and is now modern with hardwood floors, spacious rooms, dining are, kitchen etc. but with exposed portions of the old stone walls. It sits on a hillside overlooking the walled town of Soave and with Soave Castle in the distance. There is a small terrace framed by walnut trees where we would sit in the afternoon drinking complimentary Soave wine while listening to Pavaroti and planning our travel excursions for the next day.

There are only 2 large bedrooms and one gigantic shared modern bathroom (with the largest shower I encountered in Italy!), all with gorgeous hardwood floors, views of the vineyard and countryside, vaulted ceilings, king beds (very firm mattresses), wardrobe and fans .One room has a sleeper sofa.

Breakfast of scrambled eggs with cheese, homemade almond coffee cake, croissants, homemade preserves, great coffee, juice, toast. Ate 2 excellent dinners. The owners - Mira and Nicola - have a great herb garden and Mira uses the fresh arugula and herbs in her salads and pasta - yum!

Mira is from Brazil, Nicola from Soave. They have been married for 4 years and are in the mid-30's. They are lovely people, very much in love. Their English is limited but they understand Spanish, Portugese, & French. Very friendly and helpful.

We paid 55 euros per night for our room with breakfast. As with many Agriturismos, there are no phones in the rooms, and you get a set of towels to last your stay.
It was a great place to return to each day after the hustle and bustle and crowds in Venice, Verona and Vicenza.

Great views, food, quiet, cool when it's hot in the city, complimentary wine, extremely clean, large rooms, nice hosts, great location, easy to find.
