Locanda Cipriani: Luxury Accomodation on Torcello

I'm afraid that I didn't stay here, or even have a meal or drink (it appeared to be closed at my visit) I've added it just so anyone intending to stay on this island has some info.as accom here appears to be sparce. It does have quite a glitzy history

According to my guide book, there are 6 rooms in this hotel, where Ernest Hemingway wrote ' Across the River and Into the Trees' his novel based on Venice - apparently he wrote it standing up as he was cursed with haemorrhoids at the time!!!

It is part of the renowned Cipriani chain, so not cheap, but is renowned for its seafood. Its owner is Bonifacio Brass, Grandson of Cipriani. The webpage is worth visiting for the Who's Who list of Royalty, Heads of State, Stars of screen and stage, etc who've crossed the threshold of the hotel and restaurant

Locanda Cipriani: Locanda Cipriani

If you want to stay on Torcello to enjoy its peace and serenity then you can - but at a price! The Hotel-restaurant Locanda of the famous Cipriani chain is to be found on Torcello. With just 6 rooms it was a favourite of Ernest Hemmingway who stayed here in 1948. Boat taxis can reach right up to the hotel too via the little canal.

Unique Quality: The hotel's restaurant is well renowned too as one of the best in Venice.
