Treviso on the water
by croisbeauty
Canale dei Buranelli is the oldest and the most pitoresque part of Treviso. It looks very alike to Venice and its canals, except for gondolas which are missing here. The whole area is favourite pedestrian, for both locals and visitors, and is in particularly attractive under the night illumination. Not of less importance, this is very pieceful and safe area, even late in the nights.
Villa Volpi
by croisbeauty
Actually, I couldn't find any useful informations about this magnificent villa, situated in Preganziol, lacality on a local road in between Treviso and Mestre. Right now, it is under major reconstruction works and since private property, public visitings are not allowed. Accordint to its style, it must be 17-19 century structure, as many other villas in the area.
Chiesa di San Nicolo' - inside
by Diana75
San Nicolo' church inside is divided by columns in three naves, most of them being decorated with paintings of Tomaso da Modena and his pupils.
In the presbytery is the tomb of Agostino Onigo with sculptures of Antonio Rizzo and paintings of Lotto.
Following the restructuring works held in the church, the beautiful wooden ceiling was cleaned, while the pavement made of red marble from Verona was modified according to the original plans.
Museo Civico Luigi Bailo
by STEFZAMM
I walked all the way to this museum but it was closed ! Apparently they are refurbishing it and everything was moved to another museum which was situated on the other side of the city and then I really had no time to get there. I understand from what I found that once this is refurbished it will be up and running for visitors again.
I found that this museum had an archeological collection and art gallery. It contains frescoes by Tommaso da Modena & Giloramo da Treviso, there are also pictures by Bellini, Lotto, Titian and other famous artists. In February 2009 this museum was closed and everything was moved to the convent of Saint Catherine - (Convento di Santa Caterina).
Porta Santi Quaranta
by croisbeauty
Porta Santi Quaranta, a town gate, built by Fra Giocondo and others in 1509-1518, is the most interesting stretch of city walls. The top of the gate has been laid out as a pleasant walk.
The walls itself can be better seen from the gardens outside it.
