Local bus services in Treviso

by BelperJon

Does anyone know where I can get hold of the local bus timetables for Treviso online? I shall be there in a couple of weeks and, in particular, I'm after information on services along Via Feltrina at the weekends.

If it's a small town it should be www.comune.[name of the city].[province, i.e. mi for milan, na for naples, to for turin].it

Travel Tips for Treviso

Chapel turned into cafe-bar

by croisbeauty

This is definetely an excellent idea, turning old abandoned chapel into the cafe-bar, which is now the most beautiful of a kind in whole of Treviso. The old sacral object have changed its previous assignment, but at the same time it has been preserved for the future times. The cafe-bar, which is situated next to Casa dei Carraresi, is very attractive and excellent place for relaxing after visiting museum.

Chiesa di San Nicolo'

by Diana75

The church of Saint Nicholas was built by Domenicani following the instructions of brother Niccolo' Boccalino, better known as Papa Benedetto XI.

Located on the outskirts of Treviso central area, the church is characterized by simple forms, lengthen on the upper side, in line with the transition from Romanic to Gothic architecture.

The history of the church was marked by the collapse of the bell tower that also affected part of the chapels and by damages suffered during the Second World War.

Universita area

by BruceDunning

The university was founded about 1231 time frame. It expanded in 1313-14 and became concentrated on law and medicine. The old hospital is in the center of the campus, and now the main focus. Most buildings are from 1800's, a couple Palazzo Bortolan and Palazzo dell'Ultomesimo Latino. it is surrounded by a moat where the old castle stands. A wooden bridge that had been famous in past centuries, looks like a new rebuilt, had history for the university site.

Il Duomo

by croisbeauty

The Cathedral of San Pietro date back in the late 12th or early 13th centuries, however, its present look has little in common with the original church. The apses were rebuilt in the 15th and 16th C., while the central structure was altered in the 18th century. The front facade with its Ionic hexastyle porch was added in 1846.

La Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore

by Diana75

The first testimonies about Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore are dating from the VIII century.

The church is also called "Madonna Granda" and was built on the site of a column with the Vergine image on it.

The architectural style of the church changed during the years after the destruction during the barbarians' invasions and rebuilding in late Gothic style in 1400.

At the beginning of 1500 part of the bricks of the church were used to build the new Treviso walls.

The church has three naves and three access doors, the central one larger than the other two.

In the bombings of WW II, half of the church's facade and the central nave have been destroyed.
