This is a lovely little place off a quiet alley and yet close to the vaporetto. We stayed here on our honeymoon--it was recommended in a travel guide we had (Fodor's maybe?), so we decided to try it out. Rates were quite reasonable. As others have noted, Mattia is an excellent host and full of recommendations for attractions and restaurants. The rooms are all different so I can't speak for all of them, but ours was quite small. It had everything we needed, though, and had a nice view of the garden (those on the other side look out on the canal). You do have to call ahead to tell them when you will be checking in, though. We got in about 5:30 AM on the train on a Sunday (though I'm not a morning person, seeing the city at Sunrise was actually very nice), and waited for the vaporetto to start operating for the day. We then rode it around just to get a feel for things, and stopped to call the B & B and let them know we were coming (I had already e-mailed ahead of time that we'd be getting there in the morning). Mattia was there to meet us and check us in, then we went to mass at San Marco, which was great!
I would absolutely recommend Ponte Chiodo to anyone.
Unique Quality: Breakfast in the garden was peaceful and enjoyable. Great host. Convenient to vaporetto stop. Secure entrance.
This guest house it located in Cannareggio Area, in a very peaceful street and overlooking a canal. It consists of about 10 rooms in three floors, there is a nice living room where breakfast is served and a little kitchen where you can fix your tea or coffee after a long day of sightseeing.
The rooms are comfortable, some with bathroom in the room, some with bathroom in the hallway. There are nice old restored furnitures and comfortable beds.
Everything was very clean.
Breakfast was good even if not too rich. We had cappuccino, a croissant, bread, jam, yogurt and juices.
Unique Quality: It is not in the crowd of tourists but at walking distance from then main attractions.
Some of the rooms overlook a canal and the only bridge in Venice still without a battlement.
The owner was very helpful and provided all information we needed and good advices about places to dine.
The guest house 3749 Ponte chiodo is located in Cannaregio, quiet but still central.
Breakfast is in cluded, when it's warm enough it is served in the garden.
You can use internet for free and the kitchen in the common area can be also used for small cooking.
Our room was a bit small but clean. I would defenitly recommend this guest house for a stay in Venice.

The bridges in Venice originally had no parapets. These were added to prevent people from falling into the water. Ponte Chiodo is the only bridge without parapet in Venice, not counting the one in the island of Torcello.
The bridge spans rio San Felice and is located in the sestriere of Cannareggio.
