Close to the Accademia bridge

This a very small place with a very narrow stairwell that leads to the second floor rooms. The rooms were very small, even for European standards. The first time we stayed there we were happy enough because of the location and the price of the rooms.

The second time we stayed there, the management and help had changed. They were very unfriendly. Our shower leaked onto the front lobby downstairs and they banged on the door claiming we overflowed the shower. Later that day they found a leak in the shower pan but didn't apologize. The icing on the cake was we came back from dinner and went into their restaurant. They did not have one customer and it was around 8:30. We sat down and ordered a desert. They refused to serve us even after we told them we were staying at the hotel. We could only order desert if we had ordered a dinner?? They said the only way that we could get desert is if we sat in the lobby to eat it... We will never go back to this place.

Nestled into a modest street near the Peggy Guggenheim the Agli Alboretti is a small, intimate hotel where you will get to know the owner and her two small dogs after a day or two, particularly if you have dinner in the restaurant one evening. The food is very good ... although the competition in Venice is steep. The owner watches over the room and you feel well looked after.

There is a warm neighborhood Cafe just around the corner which became my favorite spot to read the papers and write each morning

Good accommodation in Venice

Hi

We are flying into Venice on the 27th of August en route to Verona. Can anyone reccomend a nice hotel that is not too expensive as we are arriving late at night and will be leaving early the next morning. We have stayed there before in the Agli Alboretti and found that very comfortable but wanted to try somewhere different.

Why would you want to stay in Venezia then ? Just for sleeping there ???
There are definitely cheaper options outside, on the mainland, mestre for example.
