I booked this hotel through www.Venere.com and paid 220 euros for 3 nights bed and breakfast for a double room for single occupancy from 24 - 27 December 2006.
Ideal location- 2 minute walk from Piazzo San Marco, down a narrow alley, off Campo SS Filippo e Giacomo
Friendly, helpful staff on reception- Seemed to genuinely want you to enjoy your visit.
The Manager also owns the nearby Rio Hotel and 2 restaurants - Aciugheta and Maison Laurent, both in the square- with 10% off food and drink for guests of the hotel.
Narrow breakfast room next to reception/lounge.
Buffet continental style breakfast.
Cereals, yogurts, fruit, pastries, bread, preserves, salami, cheese, tea/coffee/hot chocolate/juices.
I Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel, and would stop here again.
Unique Quality: This is a fully renovated 15th century palace, that has been tastefully decorated in a minimalist style.
They advertise it as Contemporary Venetian fusion style!
Marble, exposed beams and brickwork, light decorations and furnishings give a modern airy feeling to the reception and small lounge areas.
Each of the rooms are architecturally different, one has a 3 mullioned window.
I requested a room with a canal view (which I got- although It was just a small view-!)
Some rooms overlook the Campo, so I don't know how noisy this can be. (especially in Summer!)
I was woken at 07.30 each morning by a pair of pigeons sitting, cooing, outside my windowsill !
My room had a comfy double bed, clothes hanging space, dressing table, TV - mainly Italian channels + CNN, AC/heater (programmable from main reception). Bathroom with modern furnishings - basin, shower cubicle with hydro power shower, WC, bidet.
Towels are the 'cotton sheet' variety- so you may prefer to bring your own fluffy type.
Hairdryer in bathroom too- not very powerful, but adequate enough if you have short hair!
