  • The Worst Venice Hotel

I do NOT recommend this hotel to anybody. We booked a couple of nights stay here this summer 2003 (through Expedia) and when we arrived, they told us our room had water damage and will not be available. Not sure about the accuracy of this claim since another couple right in front of us just checked in. They then asked us to stay in this beautiful fresco-ceilinged accomodation instead...which turned out to be quite a distance away from San Marco. We all walked there and found a room in a hole-in-a-wall rundown place where my husband almost fell in through the stairs. It was nowhere near a 3-star comparable so we refused the room. The bathroom was not private and the guy who hand wrote all the paperwork sat right in front of your room in a small table. The fresco ceiling they talked about was tearing and peeling. The place was scary! We complained to Expedia and they found us a room we were able to stay in...but ended up not checking in until midnight. Hotel All'Angelo made our Venice experience a complete nightmare! Beware!

Don't Miss the Paintings on the Walls

by Goner about Ristorante all' Angelo Venezia

This restaurant is unique. Artists from the area showcase their painting here. Some are excellent and some of your (if you like art) dining time is spent gazing at the artwork. While gazing and eating, we were serenaded by men in stripped shirts and straw hats -- just what you think all the Italian men should be wearing in Venice. The food was excellent; everything from the bread to the pasta and even the salad was delicious

Arresting menu

by js2005 about Ristorante all' Angelo

this place was advertised as being authentic Venitian Food, I took my family there for a special birthday treat, we were appalled at the food that was inedible, the staff that were very rude and when I tried to talk to the manager I was threatened by the police who came and grabbed my arms, as if to arrest me. It gives genuine restaurants in venice a bad name and reinforces the fact that some unprincipled people get what they can out of Tourists, I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone, and it should be taken out of the guide books as soon as possible. Not So Hot

I stayed at Hotel All 'Angelo in September. The room I had was very nice, and the bathroom was almost as large as the room. Air conditioning was mediocre at best. Food was so-so. Not the best I ate while in Italy by any stretch of the imagination. Staff can only be described as surly. Knew I was going to have problems, when I asked for A T & T European Toll Free number, ( had misplaced my copy of the number) and desk clerk told me she had never heard of A T & T. Visit went down hill from there. The location is great

Great location

by TripAdvisor Member TheTravelerDC

Great location for this hotel. You can go out during the day or at night and see Piazza San Marco and there are also many great restaurants around it.

The hotel itself is very old, and in need of repairs, but we didn't spend that much time in the room so it was OK. Just don't expect a lot of comfort and luxury for the price you pay. You are paying for the location!!

Great hotel!

Booked 2 rooms in July 2004, just a few days before arrival, via Expedia. Stayed in newly aquired and remodelled property across the alley from the main hotel. No problem at all with pre-paid Expedia booking - we arrived and were taken directly to our rooms. Our rooms, bathrooms, amenities were all very nice. Staff always very courteous and friendly. Great breakfast and nice bar, both in the new property. Wonderful central location just steps from Piazza San Marco. Highly recommend.

Great Value for money!
