The Great Hotel Alle Guglie!
by TripAdvisor Member LJClevelandOhio
The Hotel Alle Guglie was a great place to stay! The staff was friendly and spoke English well. The hotel was clean, well maintained, and had a great location on the main road. San Marco was about a 20 minute walk from the hotel, but the walk to the square was labeled pretty well and great shops were stationed along the walk. The walk did not seem to be long at all and we enjoyed the walk there. Great restaurants are within very close distance and a fruit stand was conveniently located right outside the hotel. Breakfast was free and served every morning with attentive staff. The hotel is one bus ferry stop away from the train station. Any concerns that occurred during our stay at the hotel were immediately attended to no matter what hour of the day/night. The rooms were decorated in the traditional Venetian style and our room overlooked the main street. No complaints whatsoever!
My favourite hotel in Venice
by TripAdvisor Member Kat77Mos
I was in hotel "Alle Guglie" two times (the first time with my friends and the second with my husband) and I am sure that the next my trip in Venice I will stay in hotel "Alle Guglie". I can explain you why. You know that Venice in a very beautiful city, but in the same time is very special one. Becouse of this it is not easy to find the hotel with good position, service and price. But the hotel "Alle Guglie" unite all these qualities. It is located not far from train station in a quiet place where you can see not only tourists, but the life of venice people to. And in the same time it is not difficult to reach the San Marco by foot . In Venice this is very important, becouse you have not wait a boat and can go for a walk everywhere and whenever. The rooms are very nice and clean, decorated in special style. The staff is very plesant and you can feel you at home. In Italy Venice is my favourite city and "Alle Guglie" is my favourite hotel.
Loved the Location
by TripAdvisor Member seba34
My mom and I had a wonderful three night visit at the Hotel alle Guglie. We thought the location was great because we were able to walk to it from the bus station with our luggage. We also were able to adventure walk through some of the less visited areas on our way to St. Marc's Basilica which was about a 20 - 30 minute walk (considering we made a lot of stops in the many shops). There were some nice and reasonably priced restaurants close to the hotel... we really enjoyed the "Trattoria Le Campane" restaurant just a couple of minutes from the hotel. The room was small but clean and comfortable. The hotel service was nice and pleasant. We did almost miss our free ride to Murano because we assumed a boat would take us when we wanted to go but, instead, a boat came only once a day, and only if there were enough people interested. Breakfast was good. A plus for us was that we had a room facing the avenue where there was a daily market. If I ever go to Venice again, I will be sure to budget enough money for a ride in a gondola (they were a bit pricey... 80 Euros for 2 people). Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would stay at the Hotel alle Guglie again.
Trip to Venice

Our first time in venice, full of hotels and didn't know which one to pick. We chose Hotel Alle Guglie via a website. We were very pleased with the friendly service, very helpful staff, clean and safe rooms, breakfast was more than enough for anyone sightseeing for the day/s, and was located 5 mins walk from all the main sights. There was a safe in the room and a fridge which is always useful when travelling around.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to venice. Thank you to all the saff for making my 30th Birthday wonderful.
cute...although on a slant?
by TripAdvisor Member beccasparkles01
we stayed in venice for only one night and hotel alle guglie met our requirements but not exceedingly. the room was ok although there are no lifts so carrying the luggage up all the stairs was painful... the floor was on a slant, and hence so was the bed so we were sleeping on and angle which was interesting...but since you walk everywhere in venice we were tired enough not to notice too much! bathroom was ok - reasonably clean but the whole hotel is quite old so the furniture, bathroom and bedding reflects this. it was a double bed mattress though which is a step up from a lot of the 2 singles you find pushed together in italy... the staff were exceedingly nice so that helped and the breakfast was warm and tasty. it is a reasonably good location if you don't mind a walk...closer to st marks square would have been better but it was fine.

I booked a surprise trip for my fiancee's birthday to the beautiful city of Venice and as i booked on-line i had no idea what the accomodation would be like. When we arrived at the Hotel alle Guglie we were so overjoyed when this first time experience of Venice was greeted with the wonderful facia and ambience of the Hotel. This feeling was further enhanced by the total professionalism and friendliness of the staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome, both at the initial booking in and for the duration of our stay. The Hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring the city, with Guglie Bridge just 50 metres away, with access to the extremely efficient water bus system.
This choice of Hotel could not have been any better, as we were able to enjoy the city both on foot ( as the whole of Venice is very accessible on foot), or by public transport. The staff were very friendly but not TOO over familiar-very keen to help you enjoy your trip but not pushy or in your face .The rooms are very well decorated and kept incredibly clean, with sufficient breakfast available to set you up for your day exploring Venice!! Cant wait to return for our anniversary Sept07! Gary & Kate, MK England
Terrible Value
by TripAdvisor Member gegan3
We have just arrived home from Venice (24/6/07). Stayed in Hotel Alle
Guglie. €500 FOR 3 NIGHTS!!. Absolute rip-off. The Hotel was booked for us by our sons for our 25th Anniversary, however never again. Don't be fooled by their website or some of the positive reviews you may read here. This hotel is not worth the money. There are many hotels like this in Venice offering genuine 3 star standard for the same price.
We had the 'Double Superior ' (what a misnomer) room at the front of the hotel overlooking the street. The room was small as expected, wallcoverings were nice but the good points end there. The floor covering was cheap, furnishings were cheap, the bathroom was basic, all cheap old (70's) fittings - you have to hold the shower hose to shower. You cant take a bath either because they don't supply a
"stopper" - and wouldn't explain why. Also - No warning given about the street traders setting up their fruit and veg stalls under our window from 4.30 am to 7am. Unbelievable noise even with windows and shutters closed. Banging and hammering for 2 hours. The air conditioning unit is switched on and off 'on request' by reception -bizarre......
The breakfast room and the breakfast itself is a joke. It's located
'next door' to the main building so you have to leave the hotel, go next door, up 3 flights of stairs to a tiny narrow room, nay corridor
- as some bedroom doors open directly in to this room of 6 tables. Help yourself to the cheapest lousy breakfast you will ever get - even in a 2-bit hostel. Once again evertthing is of dirt cheap standard. Crappy - cheap cereal dispensers, coffee machine, toaster. stale rolls, etc.
The hotel is listed as a 3 star. This has to be a mistake. Over the years we have stayed in a few low budget hotels for one reason or another, where you would expect this kind of basic fare but at €170 a night, there is no excuse for this place. The least you could expect is a standard continental breakfast, reasonable fixtures and fittings and an internet/wifi connection. The reception has internet use but not the guests!! Quaint Venetian hotel it may be but there are minimum standards for a price and a 3 star rating. Everything about the standard and services of this place smacks of a cheap 1 star hotel. They want to extract the maximum they can get from their guests and give a little as possible in return - For god's sake, what would it cost out of the €170 to provide a breakfast - €3 to €5 max. Dont stay here, please even if they halved the price.
......Venice however has to be experienced... great place to visit and explore..
we will return

Our room was beautiful, albeit small. Very quiet, great location, outstanding service. I wanted to bring Luigi, the beautiful owner, home with me! He accommodated our late check out request with out hesitation. We are looking forward to a return visit. Two nights were not enough.
Well worth the trip to beautiful Venice
by TripAdvisor Member Jaunty_traveller
We have just returned from a trip to Venice. Our hotel was booked over the internet and was very reasonably priced. We were delighted to find a small but spotlesslly clean hotel in a great spot with easy access to all the major sites. Our room had classical decor, air conditioning and was beautifully decorated and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and spoke English which was a great help as our Italian is not very good.It was one of our best holidays and would recommend Hotel Guglie. Thanks to the staff.

Hi,
We stayed in Hotel Alle Guglie, as you will see from the website, the rooms are decorated beautifully and it is situated in a fabulous area of Venice - with reasonaly priced restaurants and bars.. a glass of red wine for 70 cent!
We walked to St Mark's Sq from here in 10 mins..
www.alleguglie.it I booked it through www.hotelconnect.co.uk, which was cheaper than direct.

Try the Ca' del Dose. They're wonderful. I've stayed with them twice, for two months in total! Good prices and walking distance to many major sites, like the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Square. But they are in a quiet residential neighborhood. Wonderful authentic Venetian restaurant, right next door. Good prices. Near several markets and bakeries. Ideal.
