More about Antica Locanda Casa Verardo Hotel Venice
Excellent Hotel
by A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Casa Verardo Hotel in Venice for the last weekend of Carnivale 2006. The hotel is located very centrally, about a 5 minute walk from St Mark's Square. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff were very helpful in giving directions and recommendations. The breakfast is lovely and is served in a beautiful dining room, with views of the canals. Our room was rather small but we would definitely stay at the Casa Verardo if we returned to Venice. A great experience.
Excellent Experience

Three nights at Casa Verardo, Oct 7 to 9. One of 5 hotels at which my wife and I stayed on a 10-day whistle-stop tour through Venice, Florence, Cinque Terra, Pisa, Siena and Montepulciano.
The hotel was as advertised. We were given exactly the room we requested which, although small, was beautifully appointed and had its own private balcony, the only one in the hotel, I believe. Although the view is not spectacular, it does allow you to sit out at night.
Staff were all competent, polite and more than willing to be of assistance.
The location was perfect for us, with close proximity to almost anything you might want to see or do.
Terrific find!

My boyfriend and I just returned from a trip to Venice and we enjoyed our stay at Casa Verardo. I booked after reading so many good reviews and was not disappointed! The first night we had the room right next to the lobby. It was fine, but not like the pictures I've seen. Also, the bathroom had the toilet/shower combo so everything in the bathroom got wet when showering. Even though we didn't complain, they offered to move us the next night. Our next room was terrific and looked just like the pictures I've seen.
I thought the location was great! We were close to St. Marks, but far enough away so it was always quite and not as touristy. The staff was very helpful for any questions that arose! I would definitely stay here again!
Really wonderful.

I've just returned from a 5 night stay with my wife in Casa Verardo.
To begin with, we had a real late arrival (5 a.m) due to a great flight delay. No problem, we ringed, and in 30 seconds here there was the night recepcionist, to welcome, and make a fast check-in.
The hotel itself, is a real Palazzo fully restored between 2001-2004, so the whole place is nearly inmaculate and literally placed a minute from San Marco square, but in a very quiet ad cosy quarter, facing a little canal.
The rooms come from great suites to cosy little french size de luxe double rooms. We were in a french room, little in space, but that's what I call a "Deluxe Room": spider lamp, furniture everywhere, french size bed, minibar, hairdryer, fully decorated in Venetian Style. All this for 120 € per ninght per room, in peak high season in Venice (Bienale, Mostra and Regata Storica).
The continental breakfast consisted in coffe ( black, with milk, cappuccino, no matter how many you want), fresh made filled with jam croisasnts, orange juices, ham, cheese, bread, cereals, etc.
Staff was wonderful, as we can say, "beyond call of duty", even they booked for us the Secret Itineraries at the Doge's Palace, advised for good restaurants, wich food to buy, and so on.
After check-out, we could let our luggage and use the toilet until it was time for us to go to the airport, and they took personal care of one bag containing very fragile items (murano cristal and venetian masks).
When we left, they told us "Have a very nice trip, and please, remember Casa Verardo". You can be sure, that we'll remeber your charming hotel, and we'll be back in a few months.
Great, Quiet Location, Clean, Friendly, Helpful

We stayed here for 2 nights in mid-March 2006 and then went to Rome where we kept saying this hotel isn't as nice as Casa Verardo. We stayed in the canal view Junior Suite (Room 101) which was huge and had a fantastic bathroom.
Positives:
--3 minute walk to San Marco but still extrememly quiet, no noise on the canal or loud people walking past. Restaurants and Pharmacy in the nearby campo.
--firm beds, large room with TV, mini bar, and safe
--large bathroom with lots of counter space, towel warmer, even water temperature and great water pressure in the shower
--The staff replied promptly when I was making arrangements, they were friendly and helpful, and greeted us by name as we walked in the door
--Breakfast consisted of warm rolls, fresh croissants, meat, cheese, juice, cereals, and yogurt. My daughter loved loading the nutella on her rolls. Another big plus after a long dehydrating flight was the pitcher of water in the breakfast room.
Negatives:
---The doors on the wardrobe were very hard to open if you shut them all the way
We really enjoyed the meal at the restaurant that they recommended Conca D'Oro. The food was good, service was good, and it was a fun place. They also give Casa Verardo guests a free apertivo after dinner (beware the limoncello). The front desk also made reservations for us for the Vivaldi concert on San Marco.
Great location, charming hotel, wonderful stay

For four days in Venice, we were greatful to have such comfortable accommodations and such a wonderful front desk. The location is very quiet, away from all the hustle and bustle; yet we were just three short blocks from Piazza San Marco, and four minutes walk from major vaporetto stop. Our regular room was large and air conditoned, with a wonderful bathroom. Continental breakfasts were terrific. I highly recommend this hotel. The front desk staff will do anything to assist you during your stay. They arranged a tour thru "Walking Tour" of the Grand Canal which was fabulous. They also encouraged us to take the free private boat to island of Murano and tour a glass factory at no obligation. From Murano we took the public boat to Burano (lace making island) then back to Venice. What a wonderful day.
Good hotel, small rooms
by A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel in fact, is a good and renovated one. The staff is helpful but, (there's always a but), beware if you are offered a lower price from the media for a double one, as in our case, we were offered a "french size de luxe double room", and when we saw it, it was just a single room with a big bed, but not even place to open your suitcase, not even 10 inches from bed to wall. Let's say, very accurate for just a person, but extremely small for a couple.
For this kind of room, I think the hotel is a bit overpriced. When in Venice, last place where you wanna be, is in your room, but, even with such a good hotel, and good location, I felt scammed, to pay such prices for a sinlge room.
Nice hotel

This was a nice hotel, good value for 2 nights for triple room with breakfast 420 Euro. Beware of the free tours, they take you there and then dump you and you have to find your own way back. I think these tours are not run by the hotel but they should make you aware of this. I would stay here again. Its in a really good location.

Staying near St. Mark's Square -- suggestions?
by e.a.t
Looking for a nicer place to stay in Venice near St. Mark's Square. I know it can get pricey, but we're hoping to keep it at or under 215 euros. I'll be with 6 people (we need three rooms or a nice flat).
I'm looking for any and all suggestions -- throw them my way.

We just got back from Venice last week. We stayed at an excellent 3 star hotel called Hotel San Moise. It was about a 2 minute walk from St. Mark's. The price included a very large breakfast and the rooms were very nice with a bathroom, phone, TV and AC. We paid 60 euros a night, which is quite a steal. We booked through Venere.com. The Hotel also has a site at sanmoise.it. The prices listed on the site are higher than what we paid and I am not sure exactly why. I would look around Venere.com and see what you can find.

Nice flats don;t come much nicer than these:

But you tend to pay the price .. try emailing them if there's nothing on the site as I think they have other stock,
Worth a try.

Try Casa Verardo in the Castello area, very close to St. Mark's. Single rooms are 78-120 Euros, and double rooms are 104-206 Euros. Their web site is www.casaverardo.it. I've stayed there twice, and the managers were extremely helpful and sweet. If you want to go high end, I'd suggest Hotel Savoia and Jolanda. Fabulous rooms with prices to match; stayed there once and would LOVE to stay there again. They're right on the Grand Canal. Their web site is www.hotelsavoiajolanda.it. Good luck!

Wow - Casa Verardo looks amazing. Just emailed to check availability. Thanks so much for the two recommendations. I'm going to search for low/special rates at the other place as well. Their standard prices are just slightly out of our range, but the Verardo looks perfect. Thanks!
