Most of souvenir buildings have been eroded by the waves making by boats on the Grand Canal. The beautiful St.Marco Square is often submerged by tidewater of Adriatic Sea. People can only walked carefully through the square passing on many narrow plates building temporarily one by one.
Some news said the government intends to build several dykes linking each island to turn the lagoon into a big lake. Of course it's a great plan. I don't know how about it now. I believe Italian will do something about this after saving the Inclined Tower of Pisa .
