Quaint Little Place by the Grand Canal
by cheapskate about Residence Santa Croce
The reception is not always open.. but you can always buzz the bell and someone will come to your resistance.
Every room has a private toilet which was big and spacious. They even provided embossed toilet paper! What a luxury! haha!
They have a little corner in each room where u can make instant coffee or tea and some small cracker snacks as well.
It was bit pricey at 33Euros per night in a 6 bed dormitory.. But it was on Venice island so you save time travelling.
They have 2 bed private or 4 or 6 beds dorms. All rooms are ensuite. I found it to be a very unique experience.. Staying in a typical Venetian building. Lugging my luggage up the narrow stairway.. It was like a maze!
I got a bed that was next to window.. So i was sleeping to the small overlapping waves of the grand canal.. and woke up to the sounds of motorboats in the morning!

Hi,
I'll head to Venice in May for the first time. And I thought of staying at Residence Santa Croce after reading rave reviews about this place.
Any comments? Is this place convenient, clean & safe?
Tks.

Wow! It was really good. Tks.
But it doesnt have any review on Dimora dei Fiori in Venice, Santa Croce 555, Cadoro-Strada Nuova. Anyone heard of this place?
And it claimed this-
"With your reservation you will become a member of Accademia di San Marco Association and so you have a right to:
- A map of Venice
- A little gift glassware made by Murano isle;
- Special discount of our books of Venice history in our office.
-Possibility to swap books contained in the Accademia di San Marco Association library.
- Free internet access for members of Accademia di San Marco Association in our main office;
- Free deposit bags after check-out in our main office;
...and much more!"
Is this true? Too good to be true!

I have found this location on a few reservation webpages, but I need to contact them directly as I am booking a group. The reservation websites only allow you to book up to 8 people.
Does anyone have a phone number for this Hostel?
Also known as Ca Croce.
Thanks,
Forkeepsake.

i am looking for a good place to stay for one night. I am arriving by train from Slovenia in the evening, and must fly out early in the morning. Any suggestions on a nice hotel for this one short night? I was thinking of something near P.Roma, so I can get a bus/taxi in the morning. But, am open to other suggestions.

the AI Park Hotel is a nice hotel with access to a taxi to the airport - it is located in mestre, which is on the bus line from P. Roma to the airport. we stayed here and were pleased - great pizza restaurant two blocks away and a gelati place that is around the corner that was the best we had in italy.

Hi there,
You should have a look at this hotel : Residence Santa Croce
From the bus station at P.Roma, you just across the little green bridge and turn left. Then follow the street that along the grand canal for about 2 minutes (direction train station), after you find another little brigde, then follow the house until you find number 555 Santacroce with a red door in a white building. I think there will easy for you to reach a bus to the airport. And also it is very easy to find this hotel.
Hope this will help,
Toeyja

I stayed at Hotel Spagna recently; about 3 minutes walk from trainstation at Lista di Spagna. I arrived by bus, which meant crossing 3 small bridges...
Good simple hotel for about 70euro single room with private facilities and breakfast.
