There are better hotels but if you can get a good price the LOCATION will make it worth your while. The hotel is right next to the Rialto, it's the red building next to the bridge in all the photos. We had a good stay there the staff was pleasant and the room was ornate without being special. It overlooked a street at the back. There was NO NOISE despite being on a main thoroughfare. Loads of cheaper places to eat
    when compared to St Mark's.
We got a 4 nights for 3 with Hotel Connect.

From the Rialto you can walk to just about anywhere on the island within 20 minutes.
There are vaporetta stops outside the Hotel which is very convenient. A canal view would have been nice but we would have had to pay much more. The shopping near the hotel in the markets and in the shops seemed good value. We enjoyed the open air market and strolling through San Polo after dark. It was quiet and at times eerie without being at all threatening. That's the beauty of staying right in the centre.

  • Directions: On arrival don't use water taxi or vaporetto from the airport since you have to change at St Mark's. Just get a bus to the bus station and then get on a Vaporetto. #1 or #58 you can't miss the bridge- then it's your stop. Enjoy

It's trully a challencing question -> "How to find a suitable place to stay in Venice?". As you can imagine there are so many, many hotels, B&B's, hostels, et cetera. How to choose? We did some surfing over the internet when we were planning our trip at home, We searched for B&B's and found quite a few we liked. We sended them all an email asking about availability and the only one that answered was Residenza Al Pozzi. So finally, it was an easy decision to make :)!

Residenza Al Pozzo lies in the San Polo sestiere, which is the smallest one of Venice, but it's also the second most important area of the city in terms of historical importance and attractions for the visitors of Venice. To be exact, the Residenza Al Pozzo is situated at the sunny Campo San Polo (San Polo Square). When we arrived in Venice we were lucky that Michele was so nice to pick us up from the bus terminal Piazzale Roma and even carried some bags for us!

Maybe the entrance of the B&B isn't really inviting, but once inside it's quite a different picture. The entire guest house has been furnished in that typical Venetian baroque style, a joy for the eye. The room we had was rather large and also comfortable with a tv and bathroom present. What else did we need?

The breakfast, no doubt about that! We received the first one in our room and it was quite rich with coffee, tea, hot backed bread, eggs, et cetera. We also enjoyed a breakfast at the sunny flowered terrace from which we could see the Belltower of the Basilica dei Frari.

The reception is not always open.. but you can always buzz the bell and someone will come to your resistance.

Every room has a private toilet which was big and spacious. They even provided embossed toilet paper! What a luxury! haha!

They have a little corner in each room where u can make instant coffee or tea and some small cracker snacks as well.

It was bit pricey at 33Euros per night in a 6 bed dormitory.. But it was on Venice island so you save time travelling.

They have 2 bed private or 4 or 6 beds dorms. All rooms are ensuite.

I found it to be a very unique experience.. Staying in a typical Venetian building. Lugging my luggage up the narrow stairway.. It was like a maze!

I got a bed that was next to window.. So i was sleeping to the small overlapping waves of the grand canal.. and woke up to the sounds of motorboats in the morning!

I had a single ensuite, that was good enough for me. I don't care for fancy stuff, as long as I have my own bathroom and bed, it's only a place to sleep! This hotel was just that; very neat, clean and well served. The room was spacious enough and the shower was power! Great after a long walk. Breakfast was served from 8, which might have been earlier for me, but then I'm an early riser. There was fresh coffee and juice and a basket of rolls and a filled croissant. No cheese or meat, just jam for spread. Worked for me. The staff was lovely, friendly and helpfull 24/7. No bad comments about this place at all!

Spagna is based only minutes walk from S.Lucia railwaystation, very convenient when you arrive by train. I arrived by bus on Piazzale Roma, also nearby, but had to carry my suitcase over 2 small and 1 large bridge...the hotel is in a lively area, with plenty of souvenirshops and restaurants to entertain yourself. I didn't have a view, but as said I only needed a room to sleep, so that didn't bother me.
Ferrovia vaporetti stop next to S.Lucia station, only minutes walk to enter the Grand Canal!

When we arrived to Venezia didn't have an accomodation reserved for us.
Because we were staying only for one night, we decided to take a hotel as soon as possible, just for not losing so much time with finding the best one for a good price.
We liked Amadeus a lot, when noticed it from the street, so asked them and we had a very nice small room with the shower and breakfast included for 120 EUR.
The best thing was that we had to leave the room only at 12pm, and were able to leave our baggages at the reception until 8pm.
Later we just learnt that the room's price was about 255 EUR, so they made only the discount for the 1-night stay..
Anyway, I really liked it.. only our neighbours were tooo italian, and I don't know why but they suffered insomnia..:-)

Nice rooms in off a quiet street that goes from the Accademia to the Zattere. Pleasant staff and away from the hustle and bustle of San Marco or Rialto. Our double was nicely furnished with a double bed and a full-lenth chaise. Big windows that open up to let the breeze in and big shutters to use to keep the sun from heating the room up. We really loved our room even if we had to walk up 4 flights of stairs each time to get to it.

Be aware of the adjacent church bells that ring at 7:00am sharp each weekday morning. But you weren't going to sleep the entire time anyway, were you? Decent breakfast is included each morning. The staff became familiar with us by the end of our trip (we were there for 7 nights) and recognized us each time we showed up.

The Hotel Danieli is a masterfully restored palace synonymous with the splendour and romance of Venice. We are just steps away from the Piazza San Marco and its Basilica as well as legendary sites such as the Doge's Palace and the Bridge of Sighs.

The main building is the original 14th century palace of Doge Dandolo's family, a Venetian gothic landmark lavishly appointed with pink marble, stained glass, ceilings decorated with golden leaves, Murano glass chandeliers, and antiques. These glorious interiors are rivalled only by the captivating panoramic views from our rooftop restaurant, La Terrazza Danieli. Nominated on Cond? Nast Traveler's 2002 Gold List and 2001 Readers' Choice Awards List, the Hotel Danieli has been the luxury hotel preferred by discerning visitors to Venice for generations.

Hotel Violino d'Oro is a small boutique hotel that was originally "Palazzo Barozzi". It is located at a tiny campiello near the San Moise Church. Its location is on the main shopping "drag" from San Marco to the Accademia.

It is newly renovated, but its 18th-century Venetian style makes it seem antique. The rooms are compact, but not tiny. There are Murano chandeliers on the ceilings, antique furniture, excellent bathrooms, and very firm beds. Our room was a corner room and had three huge windows that looked out over the small canal and the gondolier station.

All rooms are furnished with shower or bath, direct telephone, individually controlled air conditioning, mini-bar, wire broadcasting and satellite TV. The hotel has a bar, concierge, tour desk, 24-hour room service, laundry service, babysitting service, and lovely breakfast room.

We stayed for four nights and really enjoyed the hospitality, the location, the non smoking feature, the breakfast room and the food (included in the price of room), & the beautiful corner room.

Just a few steps from San Marco Square, yet tucked away in a small campiello, The Hotel Violino d' Oro is unique. The rooms have very tall ceilings with white wood trim; Murano chandeliers, and lovely decorative touches (our room had dark teal blue and a small amount of gold in the drapes over white sheers. Wooden European shutters to keep out noise and the cold/heat worked effectively.

From our three windows, we could see the small Rio San Moise canal, a bridge, and the small campiello. The furniture was green antique with gold headboard, a lovely wardrobe, two end tables, a desk/refrigerator with marble tops on tables and desk. Also, there was a beautiful gold settee.

The hotel employees were quite helpful, making many reservations for us. But the best feature was that the entire hotel was NON SMOKING.
