Accomodation
by roamer61
I need either a hotel or B & B in Venice for 2 nights which will cost under $100 USD a night. I found 1 B&B, San Giacomo Venezia, but only saw 1 review, as the others are not in english. I do not stay in convents or hostels.
Should also be centrally located.

Hi,
To be absolutely frank, you are going to be hard pressed to find decent accommodation on Venice for $100.00 per night.
I suggest you stay in Mestre on the mainland and take the train across the Ponte di Liberta to Santa Lucia(Just one stop - takes about 5 minutes).
There are several reasonably priced hotels in Mestre.
The one that comes to mind is the Hotel Ambasciatta. It is only 250 metres from Mestre Station and rooms are available from about 55 Euros per night(about 90 dollars).
I'm sure they would have a website.
Another alternative is to check out the Traveleurope website - just feed in
'hotels in mestre'.

Looks fine to me. Not far from where mine was, so it's a pretty convenient (and quiet) area.

Kathy, looks nice, but its 125 euro when I'll be there (April). So its well above my budget.

OK, 2 prospective B and B for Venice. One is the AL CAMPANIEL b&b Venezia. The other is San Giacomo Venezia. Help me make a decison.
Re: Accomodation

I'd choose the second one, because it's easier to get to from the station and there is very little to choose between them in terms of location, imo.

Yea. I was actually leaning toward San Giacoma.
Travel Tips for Venice
Take a ferry along the Canale...
by SydneyGal
Take a ferry along the Canale Grande, the main canal running through Venice. It is very scenic and an excellent option to explore Venice by water. Try going from Bacilica San Marco all the way to the other end. You'll see scenes like the photo to the left, so beautiful!
Leaving Venice
by GypsyBessie
After spending a wonderful day in Venice we left as we arrived by the Hydrofoil back to Porec in Croatia.
Again, it must be the best way to leave Venice, watching the skyline. All the sights and sounds and magical atmosphere!
GRAND CANAL
by Helga67
This great 'road of water' is the most beautiful street in Venice. You can glide along the Grand Canal and be surrounded by the most opulent architecture. The atmosphere is absolutely unforgettable. To meander along the canal is literally to take a journey through Venetian history.
Take 'Vaporetto' no. 1 (waterbus) from Piazzale Roma to San Marco and enjoy the Grand Canal with its many and beautiful palazzi.
Nuns
by diageva
There are many nuns at Venice:). The ones I saw where dress in white, perhaps because it was summer ... I would have like to have a nun for me as a model to make a nice pic :) so I used to follow them to make a pic with a nice background :) ... but it was not so easy :) I also wanted to see the resto of Venice :)
Packing List
by steventilly
You might want some wellies if you get an 'Aqua Alte', but it's a bit extreme to pack those. Some people simply taped plastic bags over their feet! Digital Camera and as many Memory Cards as you can carry. I took almost 400mb capacity of memory cards and ended up using them all. Lucky for me there was the VeNice internet cafe, to transfer some pics to CD, and lucky I had a friend there with some spare cards of his own.
