Quaint Hotel Near Accademia

This is a nice, quaint hotel near Ponte di Accademia. It is just a little removed from the extreme hustle and bustle of San Marco, but close enough to all the main tourist areas that is is easy to get around. The rooms are very nice and well furnished, although like most European hotel rooms, they are small. The hotel has a very nice and cool courtyard that is a great place to sit and relax, whether you decide to stay here or are just passing by.

Great location in quiet Dorsoduro

Nice rooms in off a quiet street that goes from the Accademia to the Zattere. Pleasant staff and away from the hustle and bustle of San Marco or Rialto. Our double was nicely furnished with a double bed and a full-lenth chaise. Big windows that open up to let the breeze in and big shutters to use to keep the sun from heating the room up. We really loved our room even if we had to walk up 4 flights of stairs each time to get to it.

Unique Quality: Be aware of the adjacent church bells that ring at 7:00am sharp each weekday morning. But you weren't going to sleep the entire time anyway, were you? Decent breakfast is included each morning. The staff became familiar with us by the end of our trip (we were there for 7 nights) and recognized us each time we showed up.

  • Opinion of Price: more expensive than average

Belle Arti by the Accademia Bridge

Given the sky-high price of hotels in Venice, the Belle Arti isn't bad. I was satisfied with it, but not thrilled. My single room was small and seemed a bit depressing at first, but opening all the curtains and windows to let in some natural light helped. Rooms come with a safe, hair dryer, and air-conditioning, although they don't turn the air-conditioning on till it gets pretty warm.

There's a good breakfast buffet included, with fruit, several kinds of breakfast rolls, cold meats, cereal, juice, and of course coffee or tea. There's also a bar.

My only real complaint here is that my phone didn't work well at all, calling back to the U.S. Either I could hear them or they could hear me, but rarely both at the same time. So if it's important for you to call someone back home, I couldn't recommend this place. Otherwise, it's fine. The staff is very nice.

For a quiet room, ask for a room that doesn't overlook the courtyard.

Unique Quality: There's a nice courtyard with a fountain, some flowers, and greenery. You can eat breakfast out here or inside.

More about Belle Arti Hotel Venice

Apartment at Campo San Trovaso

by Tolik about Apartment at Campo San Trovaso

The apartment is one of the best places we have ever rented in Europe. The apartment, located in central but quiet position, immersed in the mystic atmosphere of Venice, offers its guests serene, silent and welcoming surroundings. The apartment located on the second floor (European first) in the 3-storey house, in the quiet and charming area of Dorsoduro, only a few steps from San Trovaso Church and the Zattere promenade on the lagoon. Location could not be better - on a quiet canal Ria Ognissanti (All Saints) near the Squero di San Trovaso - a picturesque gondola-maker?s workshop, one of the most significant sites in Venice. It is here that gondolas are made and repaired by skilled craftsmen, whose art has been handed down from father to son since the 17th century.

From the apartment its guests can easily get to the famous Venice?s landmarks: 15 minutes walk from Piazza S. Marco, 5 minutes from Madonna della Salute, and the Accademia delle Belle Arti is 200 m away. Boat stop "Zattere" with services to the railway station and Piazza Sam Marco 150 m. The Billa supermarket, the cheapest and the best in Venice, is only 300 m away. The 3-room apartment, is huge by the Venetian standards 90 m2 .First you see the entrance hall with dining table and TV (local channels). Small coffee room has exit to the balcony. First bedroom with 2 beds. Master bedroom has queen bed and exit to the terrace. On the terrace there is a table, 4 chairs and sunshade overlooking the alley and the Rio Ognissanti canal.
The terrace offers fantastic view over the canal and the neighbor palaces. You can spend hours drinking your coffee / wine / tea / having meal and watching as the wold going by.

Kitchen with oven, microwave and fridge. Lovely decorated bathroom with bath , shower, bidet, washing machine and WC. Second WC (separate).

Domus Cavanis: Anybody stayed there?

by Wafljo

Has anyone stayed at the (hotel) Domus Cavanis at Dorsoduro 895 in Venice? Apparently it's across the street from the much more expensive Hotel Belle Arti, which owns it and provides breakfast for Domus guests. Sounds like a good bargain at EUR 103 for a double with bath. Any opinions?

I hope my answer does not come too late! I stayed at Domus Cavanis last year and would recommend it. No luxury, but everything you need. Room and en-suite bathroom were clean. Quiet location, vaporetto station just some steps away (no bridges have to be crossed!), Piazza San Marco can also easily be reached in some minutes by walking.
