I stayed at Hotel Bernardi Semenzato during the first few days in July 2004 and it was an excellent choice for our trip. I was traveling in Italy with 3 friends. Our quad room was very nice and quite large, with plenty of room for us all. I should note that we stayed in the Annex, so I'm not sure what the rooms are like in the main section. Our room came with a TV (that we didn't use), a hair dryer, a phone (didn't use), and there was an air conditioner available for an extra fee (didn't use). The bathroom had plenty of room to move around as well. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We got into Venice early on July 1st (around 6am). Although the hotel wasn't even open yet the hotel staff allowed us to enter and store our bags there until we could check in. Although the written directions are vague, take a look at the map they provide on their webpage and you should have no trouble finding it. We came from the train station and didn't take the water bus to the Ca' D'Oro stop, Venice is small enough that it wasn't a far walk (20 minutes), it was particularly nice as no one was up yet and the city was so quiet and peaceful. A wonderful first glance of Venice! The breakfast was ok, a roll w/ jelly/butter, coffee/tea/hot chocolate, and toast. There seemed to be some other type of bread available but we got down there close to the end of the service so we missed that. The hotel is in an excellent location. It was quite easy to get anywhere in the city from where we were. Yet we were not located directly in the touristy area of St. Mark's Square. Defintely an excellent choice for the money. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
The staff was extremely friendly. They even remembered us when we saw them out walking around Venice. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelComparison: less expensive than averagePhone: (041) 52.27.257Website: http://www.hotelbernardi.com/ Other Contact: info@hotelbernardi.com |

I would not recommend this hotel. Not only was the staff rude, but they tried to charge us extra at the end of our stay without explanation. We were also disappointed that the rooms did not even come close to what was presented in the pictures and had a terrible odor of sewage in the bathroom. Finally, my wife and I ate breakfast with a couple who claimed someone broke into their room and stole their travel checks and airline tickets, but the hotel refused to call the police accusing them of trying to scam the hotel. These are not exaggerations. Buyer Beware...
As with all of Venice, the historic quality of the Hotel was well preserved. |
We stayed in this busy hotel for two nights. Our room was cheap for Venice but a lot smaller than we expected from the pictures on the website. The breakfast was OK and the staff polite, however, the shared shower was small and it flooded the floor after ordinary use. The worst aspect was the noise that infiltrated our room from guests above and beside, as well as staff talking below late at night. I would look for something else next time in Venice. A little hard to find, but that's Venice for you.Website: http://www.hotelbernardi.com/ |
This is a fantastic hotel! The staff are very friendly. We stayed in the annex, where the rooms were quite large and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was smallish but it had a good shower and a hair dryer. The hotel is very easy to find and close to the train station (a few stops on the vaporetto...Ca d'Oro). From the hotel, it is a 10 minute walk to Fondamenta Nuove, where you can catch the vaporetto for a 10-minute ride to the island of Murano. Strado Nuova is the main street (the hotel is one block behind it) and there are plenty of restaurants and little stores along the street. The annex has NO elevator, although the front desk receptionist gladly hauled our bags up the stairs! Walk straight ahead to Strada Nova, turn right. At address 4309, there is a stationery/toy store on your left; turn left on Calle Duca, then take 1st right onto Calle de l'Oca.Website: www.hotelbernardi.com |
