Our room had a view of a small courtyard. As most rooms we've had while visiting Europe, this one was small - but had a good size bathroom and also a mini-bar/refrigerator.
Although not in the heavy tourist area surrounding Piazza San Marco, we felt the location was great, especially if you're traveling on a budget. Just a short walk from the Piazzale Roma where you have the only connections to vehicular traffic in all of Venice. The train station is only a 15minute walk away also.
Therefore you can save lots of money in not having to pay to get your luggage to a more distant hotel (or hauling it yourself). It's also close to Campo Santa Margherita a very active 'square' with a street market, shops, restaurants and bars - popular with college students.
