    Very Nice Hotel

    by

booked this Hotel last minute on expedia at a internet cafe in Rome. We got a great deal...

Unique Quality: Brand spanking new hotel. Loved the tangerine orange marble bathroom. The Lobby was very small but super chic. The Staff was wonderful to us and tried to make our stay very nice. I would Highly recommed this Hotel.

Directions: Easy to get lost in Venice. Have a good map

    Convenient location

    by

We stayed here during our first visit to Venice and we very happy with both the room and the location. It is in between the Rialto Bridge area and San Marco, with both being very short walks. The hotel staff was very friendly and the rooms comfortably fit our family. The water taxi was able to drop us off right at the back door to the hotel, which for our first visit, really impressed the kids. I believe we got lucky with a very good rate, as on subsequent visits, we stayed elsewhere this hotel was very expensive.

Great room, just like the picture and spotlessly clean, breakfast buffet style, crowded after 8am.
For Venice keep your luggage to a minimum, you may have to trundle it to hotel(two bridges to negotiate). Stay clear of the free trip to Murano, this is high pressure sales and it is only free one way! Take the vaporetto, water bus to the islands for a great day out.

A Nice Surprize in Venice

by ProvTom about Hotal Bonvecchiati

After reading a wide and disturbing range of comments on Venere.com, we settled on this location in the heart of Venice--largely because of its relatively reasonable (for Venice) price and the appealing photos on its website. We stayed four nights (23-27 May '06). What we found was an elegant boutique hotel, handsomely decorated, pleasantly staffed, with a fine restaurant as well. In fact, the hotel proved a welcome retreat from what I found to be a confusing, congested, tourist trap of a city. The rest of our 24-day tour of Italy comprised Florence, Perugia, Rome, and Capri. Venice, however, proved much too "Disney" for my taste--and ridiculously overpriced. My three companions felt otherwise, but we ALL agreed on the appeal of this charming hotel. My advice to other Italy-bound travelers: save your time and euros; skip Venice and go directly to Florence. If you must go to Venice, then you can't go wrong with this hotel. The Hotel Bonvecchati has a wonderful restaurant, with a decadent outdoor dining terrace sheltered by a huge awning. The terrace affords a movie-set view of a canal and one of the city's innumerable bridges. The food and service largely matched the setting.

Friendly, charming hotel

I took my daughter to Venice for her 18th birthday and we had a wonderful time. We stayed at the Hotel Bonvecchiati and it was perfect!

As we looked out of our bedroom window we had a view of the back of St Marks and were able to watch the gondolas passing gently past below us. The beds were extremely comfortable and the maid service was excellent. My daughter was particularly impressed to return each evening to her bed having been turned down ready for her to get into.

The staff were really friendly and helpful and the only minus point we could possibly have thought of was that there were no coffee making facilities in the bedrooms. But then, its hardly a major thing, is it?

Unimpressed by the hotel

The bonvecchiati hotel has a wonderful location just 5 minute walk from St. Mark's square and 10 minutes from the Rialto bridge but this nice feature really is not sufficient to love the hotel. The rooms are very small and old decorated. Bathrooms are small with shower curtains that do not protect from having all the bathroom wet due to the current shower "telephone" system.
The room size is extremly small, my husband an I had to jump on top of the three suitcases we had to reach the bathroom. Beds are uncomfortable, with two twin beds joined together to form a queen bed !!! Mosquitos were also an issue in our visit. One night by husband and I spent more than an hour trying to kill the mosquitos who had learned efficiently to disguise over the "old flower" wall paper.

Breakfast was OK, but juices made of "koolaid" equivalents were horrible.

If you are carrying three luggages you definetly need to get there by water taxi as it is close to St. Mark's square, but to get there you need to cross three bridges with up & down stairs.

In overall, and after researching other hotels pricing, the bonvecchiati offers good value for the money paid but do not expect to stay at a luxury hotel. On the other hand, staff was very friendly !!

Not great

We stayed there in June 2004. Having booked on totalstay we were shown large rooms and luxurious surroundings on the website, but when we arrived we were shown to a Tiny room. There was paint peeling off the shower cubicle and cracked tiles. The decor in the room had not been touched for years.
We complained about ten mintues later and were told they didnt have any more rooms left for the night.
We were then moved the next day to a much bigger and cleaner room which we were happy with.
Brilliant location just off St Marks Square.

Beware..you have been warned

Tiny, creaking floorboard rooms that haven't been decorated for years and years and with mosquitoes(in Oct). Good location to St Mark's Sq, Rialto Bridge and nice staff. No way is this a 4 star hotel.

Venice in January

by A TripAdvisor Member

We visited in January as a party of ten. Considering what we paid for the 2 nights we found the hotel excelent value, charming and well situated for the main attractions.
The staff were most helpful, courteous and always dealt with any query with a smile.
We visited the week end before Carnival and the odd persons were all ready out and about with their outfits on. a great site.

Would highly recomend this hotel.
