nice hotel
We stayed at this hotel in early Sept and we found the room really nice. The furniture was very ornate and the marble bathroom just lovely and best of all it had a bath as well. We would definately stay here again as it is close to Rialto but it was hard to find, down an alley way.

Best way to get to our hotel
As 1st time visitors to Venice can someone help us with transport info. We are coming from Florence by train and are staying at Hotel Canaletto, San Lio, 5487. On the hotel website they say they are 5 mins from the underground and bus station, what is the best way to get to our accommodation, and what is the closest stop.

there are no bus station in Venice and there are no car, too (except Lido). There is no underground. I know they are very close to S.Marco, good position.

Take note of which station the train will stop in Venice. All trains from Florence will stop at Mestre, and many will go to Santa Lucia after that. If your train goes to Santa Lucia, get off there. If it does not, alight at Mestre and take a local train to Santa Lucia.

From Santa Lucia station, take a vaporetto (public boat). Rialto stop seems reasonably close
