Corte Contarina is hidden away in Castello near the rear of the Naval dockyards(Arsenel), just off the Via Garibaldi. Excellent rooms, but quite a climb if, like us, you are on the 4th floor. Very helpful staff. Continental breakfast 7.30-10.30 (cereals, muesli, yoghurt, croissants/rolls etc.). 3 nights cost £327 for a double room 11/14 May 2004. Completely silent at night, though a delivery trolley woke us at 6.30 one morning, rattling along in the alley below. about 15 minutes walk from St Mark's Square. Not too many restaurants close by, but one recommended by hotel was OK.
