Spent a weekend here in July 2011. Arrived from the airport with a watertaxi and felt like a movie star. The hotel is very comfortable and the staff was very helpful. Our room did not have a canal view but we had a good size private terrasse. For canal view we went up to the roof terrasse and from there you can contemplate the Canal Grande in its splendour. There is a bar there but it was not open when we went up there so we cheekily brough a small bottle of champagne that we had bought in the shop and enjoyed it up there. The room was very nicely decorated in blue and the bed was nice and wide. The walk to the tourist attractions was not too long and I liked staying a little bit out of the hustle and bustle. There is a traversing gondola station next to the hotel if you want to cross the canal without walking too far. All in all a very pleasant experience in Venice.
Unique Quality: Nice views from the roof terrasse.

Hotel Foscari Palace occupies an excellent situation on the Grand Canal at 50 m from the famous Ca' d'Oro and thus near the Rialto.
The hotel is accessible with a taxi boat but also by the Vaporetto Linea 1 which stops at Ca' d'Oro. Here one has to walk only 100 m of flat ground (no bridge!) to reach the hotel.
One wing of the hotel gives onto Campo S. Sofia, a small square connecting the Grand Canal and the Strada Nova which is the main trading artery of the district Cannaregio.
Our room of "superior" type was facing the Campo S. Sofia which has a width of a dozen metres. By bending out of the window we had sight on the Grand Canal.
Our room was about 20 m2 plus a hall and a nice and complete bathroom. The room was very well furnished. The cleanliness was perfect. TV with flat screen. The nights were quiet.
The other facade of the hotel gives onto an alley about 2 m wide.
The more expensive luxe rooms and suites are at the façade on the Grand Canal.
Buffet breakfast with some fresh fruits.
The staff is OK; all speak English, some French.

We have just returned from 4 days long we in Venice, the Foscari Palace is simply perfect: great location on the "Canal Grande" close to the boat stop, the room was excellent and the staff very helpfull.
I returned from Venice yesterday and felt impelled to write this review straight away since the Foscari Palace was absolutely beautiful. I really believe that this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in-everything is brand new and imaculate. The rooms were perfect-we had a jaccuzzi bath with a huge plasma screen TV and a view of the grand canal. The service was impeccable and the staff very accommodating. I wouldn't stay anywhere else....all the other hotels were more expensive and weren't a patch on the Foscari Palace.
The entrance to the Palazzo Ducale come from Porta della Carta, a a monumental late-gothic gate made by Giovanni and Bartolomeo Bon with the Winged Lion with the doge Francesco Foscari. On the other side of the gate there is the Porticato Foscari with the nice Scala dei Giganti made by Antonio Rizzo with the statues of Neptune and Mars.
After looking all over the internet for a hotel which would make a romatic weekend away that little bit more special, I stumbled across the Foscari Palace and would throughly recommend it.
It's location is brilliant - easy to get to all the main attractions and set back away from main streets so nice and quiet at night. I always like to find hotels that are close enough to the main areas without being on top of them and this was perfect.
The quality of the room we stayed in was first class with a beautiful bathroom and large main bedroom. We were upgraded to a room with a blacony overlooking the grand canal which made it even more special.
There are lots of very nice hotels in Venice but I really could not fault the Foscari Palace - Venice is an incredible city and the hotel was the perfect starting point to explore it from. Don't forget to go onto the roof terrace for fantastic views of Venice!
Highly recommended.

My wife and I, along with our two best friends spent two fabulous nights at the Foscari Palace. It was after reading these reviews on Trip Advisor that we first learned of this hidden gem. The room, the location, the view of the Grand Canal and all of the great folks that work there are all first class. We almost forgot that it was cold and rainy. Their included breakfast was the finest we encountered on our trip to Italy. A great hotel in a great city.
I have included a photo of the Grand Canal view from our window.
My friend and I found the hotel quite easily from the Alilaguna stop at Fondamente Nove, Cannaregio by following the yellow signs to Ca d'Oro (around 15 minutes walk, cost €5 from the Airport).
All the previous reviews are all correct! The hotel is fabulous. During our stay (10th-13th March) we enjoyed 2 cocktail evenings that included live chamber music. This set the scene for a wonderful long weekend.
The buffet breakfast is quite amazing with beautiful fresh produce daily, including apple strudel and custard croissants, as well as more normal fare!
The bedroom that we had was luxurious, and as for the bathroom well I think we mastered quite a few of the options for the shower and spa bath. We definitely felt pampered after a day sight seeing, relaxing in the supplied bathrobes (bathroom linen appears to be changed twice a day).
Use the Traghetto (which is on the hotel's doorstep) as a short cut, through the Market, to get to the Rialto bridge. It only costs €0.50 to ride on a working "gondola" like other Venetians do.
The Foscari Palace is placed away from the tourist hot spots (which is a huge plus) but with such easy access to the vaporetto, everywhere is easily accessible. Make sure you visit the roof terrace for lovely views along the Grand Canal.
I can't imagine coming back to Venice and not staying here again.
Having read all reviews featured on tripadvisor I wondered if our expectations of the Foscari would be matched - and I'm pleased to say they were. It's a great hotel, full of friendly, helpful staff who will do their best to assist you in any way. Our room, albeit with a poor view was comfortable and the bathroom well presented in floor to ceiling marble. It boasted one of the most complicated shower/bath combos I've ever seen most of which I never worked out how to use.
A few tips for you: a)ask the hotel for one of their maps of the city - it's very good and clear much better than the one provided by the Venice blue travel card. b) the hotel lay on a film every night at 9pm c) be careful as EVERY beverage incl. tea/coffee etc is charged at mini bar prices.
In short - a great base to see Venice - quiet, clean, helpful with a touch of luxury.
My wife and I spent 2 nights here in a superior double (215E) on March 24 and 25, 2005 and loved it. It's very easy to get to from the train station. Take the vaporetto No. 1 to the third stop, which is Ca' d'Oro, walk off the landing to the first cross street (Strada Nova) and turn right. Walk one block and turn right again and the Foscari will be on your left down by the water. There is no need to take a private water taxi here from the train station due to the short distance involved unless perhaps you are hauling tons of luggage. This hotel is located directly on the Grand Canal. It is about a 15 minute walk to St. Mark's square which keeps you away from the masses there. Most rooms will not have much of a view of the canal, however. If we stuck our heads out our window and turned to the left, the canal could be seen. But don't miss their roof top terrace with table and chairs which gives a beautiful panoramic view of the city and the canal. Their website shows the view. We enjoyed a romantic happy hour there with a bottle of wine, bread and cheese we bought from nearby shops.
The superior double was a beautiful, large room featuring a complimentary fruit basket and bottle of water, in room safe, a flat screen TV, a marble bath with all kinds of shower heads and a makeup mirror, and a foyer with a door to the bedroom which could be closed at night to keep out any hall noise out. The room was very quiet. There is a tremendous breakfast with eggs, bacon, pancakes (but no syrup), fruit, cheese, rolls, and lots more. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful with reservations, tours, etc. One night there was a 3 piece chamber ensemble playing in one of the rooms off the lobby for at least an hour and a half while a member of the staff offered free Italian sparkling wine (no limit) and chocolate to all guests. That was really nice and, with plenty of sofas and chairs, a great way to meet fellow travellers. We will stay here again!!
