Fujiyama Bed & Breakfast

Actually named one of Italy's 10 Best B&B's, Fujiyama is an experience within the experience of Venice. There are only four rooms, so if it's booked - it's booked. I've stayed in the Shanghai room and seen the Paris room and both are beautiful. The staff - Carlo and Weynu - couldn't be more helpful and nice.

Unique Quality: Although it's in the middle of one of the most unique cities in the world, Fujiyama adds its Oriental feng shui to the mood and pulse of Venezia.

Directions: In Dorsoduro steps from Campo S. Barnaba, closest vaporetto stop is Ca Rezzonico, but the express stop Zattere is also very close.

This is one of the best B&Bs we've ever stayed in. Fujiyama is brand new (Feb 04) and has three spacious bedrooms, all with private bath. It is well located in a fairly quiet area of Dorsoduro and is very close to the water bus stop. The breakfasts are wonderful and include your choice of American coffee, cappuchino, or espresso. (It is rare to have this kind of selection at a B&B) Each room also has cable TV and AC. Price varies depending on room and season, but expect to pay around $96.00 (80 Euro) for a double.

Unique Quality: A beautiful private garden for guests and the nicest bedroom and bathroom facilities we found in all of Italy. One of my pet peeves has always been hotels and B&Bs that make you leave your key when leaving and when returning. This is almost a standard in Europe anymore, but Fujiyama gives you your own set of keys to come and go as you like. This is a nice touch.
