This bed and breakfast is run by a very friendly family and it is located at the island Giudecca. By boat just a few minutes from San Marco. It has only 2 suites and a big and beautiful garden. one suite has room for max 3 persons and the other max 5 (this one has an extra separate bedroom). The lady of the house will serve you breakfast every morning and there is a kitchen(with pots and pans etc) in the suite so you can make your own meal an eat in the lovely garden in the gazebo. According to the quality and location of this B&B the price is absolutely ok. We paid about E.100 per day for 2 persons. You can go out and in whenever you like because you will get your own key of your appartement.
I had a little hesitation to mention this B&B because I think it is the best secret spot in Venice where you can stay.
It is located next to hotel Cipriani. Take the boat from San Marco to Giudecca and go off at at the first stop on Giudecca, go left and look for the iron gate. There it is. You will come into a courtyard (In this courtyard also the house of a famous english popstar; for privacy reasons I will not mention his name) and at the end of it is the B&B. The garden is at the back of the house. From this garden you walk directly into your apartment Excellent spot in the centre of Venice. Beautiful garden. Good apartment with kitchen and bathroom. Absolute privacy.

If you’ve still got some money left after a coffee in St. Marks Sq and the obligatory gondola ride, this has to be another must do Venice experience, even if not many people know about it.
Hotel Cipriani is a 5 star hotel over on the island of La Giudecca. Short of sleeping with as many Hollywood directors as possible, this will be your only chance at living the life of a film star. Take the hotels private motor launch (probably the most well presented boat and driver in Venice) from the small jetty just to the right of St. Marks Sq. This will drop you in the impressive gardens of the hotel and San Giorgio bar, and although the best views are reserved for diners, you can still soak up the atmosphere and live music.
For views of Venice, you'll need a dinner reservation at Cips Club on the other side of the hotel.
Drinks (mostly cocktails) are about 15 - 20 euros each, so a round for two comes in at a wallet stinging 40 euros (£27), but you've also had a return trip on the best motor launch in Venice, and unsurpassed water views of the Palazzo Ducale & Square as well as the hotel experience. One of the best hotels in the world, so hotel guests are obviously stylish and wealthy. Turning up in a West Ham football shirt will generally be frowned upon. And not just because of your dubious taste in teams.

Palazzo Vendramin Calergi is a very imposing building, made in earlier renaissance style, in Venice, on the shore of the Canale Grande.
In 1500, the architect Mauro Codussi created the plans and began the construction of the palace, and in 1509, Tullio Lombardo finished the building.
The façade of the palace is a model of elegance and imposing, with the white columns at the entrance and around all the windows.
The salons in the insides of the palace are ornate with wonderful frescos and architectural structures covered with gold.
The Casino Municipale of Venice is placed at the moment in the inside of this palace.
This important house of the city was the place where Richard Wagner deceased in the winter of the year 1883.

don't know the club, but I know the name. They had a place in NYC for a while. I think this is related to the place we dropped $28US for a hamburger about 10 or so years ago in Venice when the dollar was stronger. Bring big money.

... yeah, its not really a club I think, just a little restaurant... had a look on the website and cocktails are about 17 euros each &%$%&^%&^% crazy but just about affordable as a one off.
So, as its the wifes birthday, we'll push the gondola out and have a round, but wondering whether to go the extra KM and have a meal. Menu but no prices on the website. People talk about basics like pizza (and as you say hamburgers) on the menu, but no prices.
I'm picturing somewhere thats as memorable as The Rainbow Room in NYC, but dont want to arrive only to find a side of asparagus is 35 euros.
