Hotel Commercio E Pellegrino: Not in the guidebooks

We arrived in Venice without accomodation. I had done some preliminary internet research and decided that we should stay near Piazza San Marco. So we took the water ferry down to the pier, walked off and into the alley directly in ahead, and on the left we found this hotel. Price was reasonable, it looked very nice, and the front desk staff who were very friendly said they had rooms available. Sold!
Family run hotel. Very nice rooms with bath. It was very cold and wet in Venice when we stayed and rooms were very nice & warm.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and gave lots of tips on where to eat and what to do.
Really friendly staff who all spoke English (to some extent). The rooms are small but very clean and provided with most of the things you will need (no kettle). The bathroom is not the smallest I have ever tried to shower in and everything worked well. A reasonable choice of things for breakfast, though its a small hotel so don't expect too much. A broken light bulb and door lock were both replaced within minutes which is also useful. Only five tv stations available showing the usual Italian quiz shows and news shows and dubbed USA shows.
Fantastic location. One minute walk from San Zacaria waterbus stop, two minutes from St Mark's Square, ten minute walk to the Rialto Bridge (if you don't get lost).
