We stayed 26th dec 2005 for 3 nights. Stayed in top floor room and rear of hotel, which was a twin room as we asked but had a third bed as well. Room was clean, warm and quite.
Room cost £65 per night including breakfast.
Breakfast was typical european menu of rolls and spreads etc , shame there was no meat or cheese.
The hotel in general was clean, staff were polite and helpful, but its best asset was it was 2 minutes to Rialto bridge and about the same to St marks square.
Really enjoyed stay here and would return tomorrow.
Directions: On leaving rialto waterbus stop take calle bembo which turns into Calle dei Fabbri and the hotel is on this road with corner of calle di Monti.
Simply just great. Cozy bed, clean and modern bathroom, with standing shower stall. The water doesnt spill out while showeing, unlike some other hotels / inns that I stayed with in other cities. Close to St. Marks Sq. and basically to everywhere. An superb and ideal place to stay. It is in the middle of it all, yet, when you get to the room, you hv peace and quiet for the night. Centralised (in btwn the BRIDGE and St. Marks Sq.), quaint, little rooms, with modern and efficient bathrooms. Come on, you are in Venezia, what is there not to like... I booked this hotel thru Council Travel, in the USA. I booked it in late Feb, 2002, and my trip to Italy was in mid-March, 02. The price for the room was about US$80 a night. Good deal, with a terrific location.
Unique Quality: Standing shower stall, and water doesnt even spill out, unlike the other European hotels that I stayed in (even a 5-star hotel in Paris CDG...the bathroom flooded while i was showering!!!). Adequate breakfast. Free breakfast, nice ambience, in genral. It is not a five-star hotel, but with the amount of money that i paid for, it is worth it. I went to Venice in latter half of March, 2002, and the rate of the room was US$80 (including taxes and what not). I went thru Council Travel to book this hotel. I do not know if you can get a cheaper rate with that same hotel, but US$82 is not that bad, espeecially we are talking about Venice.
Directions: get of the vaporetti at the BRIDGE stop, and walk towards the St. Marks Sq... exactly where... i cant help you because it took us about 30 mins to find the damn thing. But it is all worth it...
both hotels are in venice. which 1 should i book? or if u have any other recommendations. thanks
I have just returned from a 3 night stay in Hotel Gorizia A La Valigia.
It`s location is fantastic and it is clean and friendly. The only complaint we have is that the beds are rock hard and not too comfortable(our pointy bits eg. hips were a bit sore in the morning.Apart from that I can`t fault it.
