 | Venice Hotel Reiter Reviews | Tips 1 - 2 of 2 | | | | | | Hotel Reiter: Hotel Reiter - Cheap, but dumpy. Stay away.
| | | | |
I stayed at the Hotel Reiter in Venice for two nights this July. After I checked in and saw the hotel, I thought about cancelling the reservation, but decided it wasn't worth the trouble. Still, I couldn't wait to get out. Day time staff is helpful. Multitple flights of stairs, no elevator. Rooms do not have A/C. Rooms are dumpy and falling apart. Room smelly. Windows open nicely for street view (though noisy at night). TV didn't work, though remote was taped up with duct tape. Room pictured on web site looks MUCH nicer than the room I stayed in. Would not stay in again, and warning as many folks as I can.
Free Internet? That was a laugh. Of the five computers, two were broken and off. The other PCs were so old that they barely ran Windows 98, screen res @ 620x480, so much spyware on the system, porn sites popping up, etc. Keyboard and mice were so filthy I didn't want to touch them. Breakfast was good with croissants, rolls, cold cereal, unlimited juice and coffee. Location is about an hour vaporetto wait+ride from train station, about a half hour wait+ride to St. Mark's. Advertised as a two star hotel. Not comparable to what one in the United States would consider a two-star hotel. Leave a Comment

 | | | | Hotel Reiter: Not much Right About The Reiter
| | | | |
I had read reviews of this hotel on other websites, and I am not sure if the people writing some of these reviews actually stayed at this hotel. We stayed in room 301 which was noisy, extremely basic, the bathroom (which was tiny and very old) had exposed wiring in it, and the TV did not work. The bed linen etc was very clean, but the towels supplied in the bathroom had seen better days, , the shower curtain, which could also have done with a refurb, had strange brown spots on, which I hope was rust. Location on the Lido is great, but rooms need a total refurb. Just felt like i had stayed in a youth hostel, not a supposed 2 star hotel. The room did not even have a mirror, which was extremely inconvenient as we were in Venice for a wedding. Hard checking out your outfit with a shaving mirror.
The location on Gran Viale on the lido is good, but this makes the hotel extremely noisy, and as the windows do not close properly, and their is no AC anyway, their is no respite from the noise. Not Good, Not good at all. The amount of Gaffer tape wrapped around the remote control for the TV that does'nt work is indeed a unique feature.
