Best Value Anywhere! Extra Nice in Venice!

Free fast internet access, with 5 nice spacious stations next to the entrance/reception area and breakfast room, you get instant unlimited access to VT from 8:00am-10:00pm, and I am glad I did not pay extra money stay at their other 3-star hotels, one Hotel Giardinetto right in front of the boat station, the other Hotel Villa Parco very close to the casino, but both of them do not offer internet access, I'd rather have my easy access to the net and stay at friendly, clean, spacious and comfy 2-star Hotel Reiter any time.

Unique Quality: Great location, 2-mins walk from boat station, close to shops, restaurants and markets.

Best free internet access in any hotel, both my husband and I can not help but get on the net every time when we pass the stations, before or after our daily wandering in Venice.

We had 6-night stay and with one free night, it's like around US$35/night with buffet breakfast, it's practically the best bargain anywhere, and we especially enjoyed having our breakfast, planning our daily walk-about, sipping coffee latte/Capacino and watching local Venicians walk their dogs on the sidewalk.

Not much Right About The Reiter

I had read reviews of this hotel on other websites, and I am not sure if the people writing some of these reviews actually stayed at this hotel.

We stayed in room 301 which was noisy, extremely basic, the bathroom (which was tiny and very old) had exposed wiring in it, and the TV did not work.

The bed linen etc was very clean, but the towels supplied in the bathroom had seen better days, , the shower curtain, which could also have done with a refurb, had strange brown spots on, which I hope was rust.

Location on the Lido is great, but rooms need a total refurb.

Just felt like i had stayed in a youth hostel, not a supposed 2 star hotel.

The room did not even have a mirror, which was extremely inconvenient as we were in Venice for a wedding. Hard checking out your outfit with a shaving mirror.

Unique Quality: The location on Gran Viale on the lido is good, but this makes the hotel extremely noisy, and as the windows do not close properly, and their is no AC anyway, their is no respite from the noise. Not Good, Not good at all.

The amount of Gaffer tape wrapped around the remote control for the TV that does'nt work is indeed a unique feature.

Hotel Reiter - Cheap, but dumpy. Stay away.

I stayed at the Hotel Reiter in Venice for two nights this July. After I checked in and saw the hotel, I thought about cancelling the reservation, but decided it wasn't worth the trouble. Still, I couldn't wait to get out.

Day time staff is helpful. Multitple flights of stairs, no elevator. Rooms do not have A/C. Rooms are dumpy and falling apart. Room smelly. Windows open nicely for street view (though noisy at night). TV didn't work, though remote was taped up with duct tape.

Room pictured on web site looks MUCH nicer than the room I stayed in. Would not stay in again, and warning as many folks as I can.

Unique Quality: Free Internet? That was a laugh. Of the five computers, two were broken and off. The other PCs were so old that they barely ran Windows 98, screen res @ 620x480, so much spyware on the system, porn sites popping up, etc. Keyboard and mice were so filthy I didn't want to touch them.

Breakfast was good with croissants, rolls, cold cereal, unlimited juice and coffee.

Location is about an hour vaporetto wait+ride from train station, about a half hour wait+ride to St. Mark's.

Advertised as a two star hotel. Not comparable to what one in the United States would consider a two-star hotel.

Lido

we stayed at the Hotel Reiter on Lido, 2 stars basic but what we expected for the price,
two nights for me and my daughter was approx £120 which was cheaper than most on Lido.

Unique Quality: free internet access, en suite (ours was shower, no bath) we loved the wooden shutters, we hated not having tea making facilities. No air con but a fan which was enough. Day time staff were helpful but evening staff were not. We were told we couldn't cash travellers cheques even thought the sign on the door said they would be accepted!

There are plenty of nice small hotels in Venice. Reiter Hotel is one of them. Cosy rooms with telephone and bathroom, free public parking, and free internet point.

Cheapest accomodation in Venice

by gauravm03 about Hotel Reiter

We stayed here in January 2007 and you would not believe that we paid 30 euros a night for a double room including breakfast. I guess prices fall drastically in Venice especially in Lido in winters

The hotel was basic but the room was fairly big with an an average breakfast. The hotel looks very nice from outside and is pretty clean. I dont remember anything wrong with the place

The hotel is actually on an island called Lido. It is serviced by the boats which ferry in the grand canal and is about 15-20 minutes by boat from St. Marks square. There hotel was about 5-10 mins walk from the Lido boat stop.

The island has lot of decent restaurants and is very popular in summers. There is a huge supermarket near the hotel which is very helpful.

When I go back to venice I would like to live in central venice since I have stayed once in Lido but if its too expensive there I would definitely not mind staying here again. On Lido a nice island near Venice

Near a big supermarket (billa)

room with internet access and air conditioning

by hyacinth805

Dear VT friends,

I'm going to Venice around August 12 and planning to stay for 10 days.
Does anyone know a cheap hotel with internet access and air conditioning (50-70E$ per night)near Piazza S. Marco? Thanks so much.

Sandy

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I doubt there will be anything that cheap WITH a/c and Internet.

BTW, I just got back from a few days in Venice. I stayed at a 2-star hotel, Hotel Reiter. Don't stay here. A dump. And it still cost 40 Euro a night.

Thanks a lot for your warning. I agree with you that there is no cheap hotel with a/c and internet access in Venice. Maybe i'll add my budget then. thank you again.

Sandy,

I just got back from 14 days in Italy. I decided upon my return that NEXT trip (to whatever country), I will reduce the number of days I'm gone, if necessary, to give me more money to pay more for better accommodations.

There's a LOT to be said for being able to rest comfortably and WELL in your room.
