A very central location by the railway station
We had planned to stay only one night in Venice before leaving on a cruise the next day, so for us this location was excellent. We arrived by train from Lausanne, and this hotel was situated beside the railway station Santa Lucia, so it was really convenient and the next day we could walk to Piazzale Roma and take the People Mover - train to the cruise harbour.
The room was a normal size for a Venice hotel. The bathroom was tiny, but everything was very clean.
The breakfast buffet was very Italian with lots of pastry but they also had cereal and yoghurts.
The little garden outside the breakfast room was lovely.

BEWARE "OVERBOOKINGS"
DID NOT ACTUALLY STAY HERE, BECAUSE WE WERE TOLD THEY HAD HAD AN 'INTERNET' PROBLEM AND DID NOT HAVE OUR RESERVATION, ALTHOUGH IT WAS PREPAID.
UNDER DURESS, THEY CALLED ANOTHER HOTEL AND GOT US THEIR 'LAST ROOM' AND WERE ESCORTED THERE.
I HAD CHOSEN THIS HOTEL, AS IT WAS CLOSE TO THE TRAIN STATION, AND WOULD SAVE US A LOT OF TREKKING WHEN WE NEEDED TO DEPART. AS I HAVE A BACK PROBLEM, AND WE WERE ON ANOTHER LONG TRIP, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR MY HUSBAND TO HANDLE ALL OUR LUGGAGE, EVEN THOUGH WE BOTH ONLY CARRY 2 SMALL CASES. SO, WHEN WE WERE TAKEN SEVERAL BLOCKS AWAY, OVER A COUPLE OTHER CANALS, I WAS NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!!
THE NEW PLACE WAS REASONABLE, BUT NOT THE SAME AMENITIES, AND OUR ROOM HOUSED THE VALVE FOR PUMPING WATER TO THE ENTIRE HOTEL-----i.e., CONSTANTLY NOISY!!! We had to go back to the original reception area for this hotel (several blocks away) and request that it be turned off at night; which, surprisingly, it WAS!! But it was still very irritating at other times.
ALSO, WHEN WE WENT BACK TO EIDELWEISS SWISS, NEXT DAY, TO STAGE OUR LUGGAGE FOR DEPARTURE AT THE TRAIN STATION, THERE WAS ANOTHER COUPLE THERE, HAVING THE SAME SUPPOSED PROBLEM OF AN INTERNET BOOKING; MAKING ME RATHER SUSPICIOUS ABOUT THEIR PRACTICES, AS IT SEEMS THEY MAY NOT HVE TO PAY THE REPLACEMENT HOTEL AS MUCH AS HAS BEEN PAID THEM FOR THE ORIGINAL BOOKING. OF COURSE, THEY MAY EVEN OWN ALL THE HOTELS THEY USE AND SIMPLY USE THE BETTER ONE TO GET HIGHER-PRICED BOOKINGS??

Good 2 star hotel near Sta Lucia Station
We visited the hotel in april 2002.
We booked with booking.org. It was very easy. We paid 129 euro. In March it would be much less. The location is superb. A 2 min. walk form the trainstation. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are good but they have different sizes. We where very lucky with room nr. 2. I advise to inform about prices in different websites and call the hotel for the official hotel price. Prices could be between 85 euro and 150 euro for as doubleroom.
The staff was very helpfull.
Unique Quality: The hall/reception has the class of a 3 star hotel. Breakfast is OK and was inclusive.

90.000 Lire for a one night stay for two persons with breakfast. (Note. this was in 1997)
Unique Quality: We had room no. 68. This room was very large and you could even step out of the window into the garden..
The breakfast was great and the price was reasonable. We took a room without bathroom, but as it was in the hall just a small walk, there was no burden. Shower was very clean.
