Hotel Villa Parco in Lido, outside of Venice
About $90 US for a triple room. Price includes a buffet breakfast. We actually had reservations at Hotel Reiter in Lido, but when we got there, they had no rooms left. But they were owned by the same company as Hotel Villa Parco and they offered us a room there at the same price. As it turned out, Villa Parco was a much better hotel, so we made out well!
Quaint and lovely
by bijel about Hotel Villa Parco
Ah, beautiful beautiful place that charmed the wits out of me.
Getting to the place is a bit of a hassle because it's on Lido in Venice, and the bus that gets you to the hotel goes different directions every time you take it (which cost us 2-3hours of confusion and frustration!).
But when you get there, it's worth it!
Highly comfortable, great breakfast, good price, clean, friendly service, quiet, happy, with a nicely scenic view for a short walk.
Believe me, because I'm a real fusspot. We got the highest room - and there were sky windows in the bathroom and the room itself. The roof was also a sloping one, so it added to the whole "classic" appeal.
Benissimo!
Venezia - not just about gelati anymore

"Love-hate relationship with Trains"
One heck of a train ride from hell getting to Venice - so we decided on our way out of Venice, to take a real good train.
"Quaint Old Venice"
Not many yodelling gondoliers, but Kids took this picture that looked really vintage.
Rialto Bridge in the background, of course.
"Best Breakfast!"
At Villa Parco - we learned a hearty breakfast could raise morale.
