Reasonable rates but terrible bed
by A TripAdvisor Member
As previous reviewers have already said the Ai do Mori is in a fantastic position, has really friendly staff and very reasonable rates for Venice etc, etc. But the bed was so hard we got up every morning with backache! Also the room was tiny, so if you have any cat-swinging plans whilst in Venice they'll have to be put on hold. I've given the hotel a neutral/average rating because as it's the only place we've stayed in Venice I had nothing to compare it with, but the overall standard wasn't that great. If location is more important to you than comfort it might be worth a try, but I certainly wouldn't stay there again.
extremely small room, exceptionally friendly staff.

Stayed there for a night in early April. The room (on the top floor) we stayed in was so small we could barely walk around. The shower place was very small too; I almost couldn't close the shower door when taking a shower. The blinds were so thin they would not even block the sunlight. There were a few bugs flying around in the room the night we stayed. The bed was not as clean as it could have been. The hotel does not have an elevator, so expect climbing three flights up before reaching your room. I would have given this hotel a lower rating if not for its friendly staff and its convenient location.
You cant get much closer than this!

We have just returned from an excellent stay at the Hotel Ai do Mori. I had read all the feedback on this site before we went and wasnt quite sure what to expect - but I was very intrigued.
Well, we loved it! The staff were so friendly and helpful which always makes a stay better and the location was perfect.
Yes - our room in the main part of the hotel was small - but hey - how much time do you spend in there when you're in Venice, and we found there was plenty of room for normal activities! It was spotlessly clean and a lovely bathroom. We hadV views of the Campanile and were able to feel the atmosphere.
There was a bit of noise late at night - but it was the noise of happy people enjoying there trip to Venice - not druken louts and it certainly didnt disturb us. After a long day walking we were out like a light.
There were a few stairs to climb to the room which I had visulised, from some of the previous reviews to be awful, but in fact it is like climbing a couple of staircases at home.
I didnt think the bed was hard - just firm - which is so much better if you suffer with back problems.
The security system was excellent and we felt perfectly safe.
We found the hotel very easily using a street map.
In fact the only thing the hotel didnt get right for us was the weather, but 24 hours after our arrival the sun came out and made up for the heavy storms.
We would certainly recommend this hotel to people of all ages looking for a short break to Venice so long as they were able to climb a couple of flights of stairs with their luggage. Enjoy.
Stay in the Annex
by TripAdvisor Member TravelustNYC
If you want to be in the middle of Venice, stay here. The location is ridiculous, right off St. Mark's square and close to tbe Grand Canal / Rialto Bridge. Lots of touristy restaurants and shops nearby, but walk abit away for better food / deals. The hustle and bustle was fun and wasn't loud in the room (good windows), but if you don't like big crowds it might seem a little much. However, we loved it. Location, location, location.
We highly recommend staying in the Annex, especially since we didn't have any of the problems I read about. It's on a side alley and feels like a private apartment. The room was large, had wood floors, exposed beams, a nice bathroom and good bed. Plus the price was very fair for Italy, and especially so for Venice. The staff was great. Very friendly w/ some good restaurant recommendation and advice. Their English wasn't the best but that didn't cause any problems.
curteous and clean

We stayed in the annex, and location is great, just like everyone else noted. We stayed in room 6 which was a climb, but it had a view and was plenty large. The bathroom has towel warmers as well, which work great for drying newly washed clothing. The staff was helpful and English speaking. We even left our bags at the desk much longer than we told them, and there were no complaints when we retrieved them, only smiles.
Great Value, Awesome Staff

This hotel was easy to communicate with by email, we always got a prompt reply and we had no trouble with our reservations.
Three of us shared a room at this hotel. All they had available the first night was the Annex then we had to move to the main hotel for our last two nights. First and foremost, be prepared for stairs and lots of steep ones, and don't be alarmed at the outside appearance of this hotel. The rooms themselves and the staff make up for it.
The Annex our first night:
This room was smaller but very nice and clean, it looked newly renovated, including the bathroom. The room we had looked out onto a narrow street and right at another building...not so nice.
Main hotel the next two nights:
We were glad when we arrived at the main hotel (after schleping our suitcases up the narrow steep stairs...did I mention the stairs :)) to a larger room overlooking a more interesting street. It even had a tiny balcony, not really meant for sitting on but at least you could see out and really feel like you were in Venice. The street was fairly quite at night once all the stores and restaurants closed. Don't be alarmed, but there is a McDonalds two doors down....it's makes it easy to find your hotel.
The very best thing about this hotel was the staff. The front desk people spoke English and helped us with everything. Including how to ask for medicine from the drugstore and getting a taxi at 2:30 am to get to the airport when we left. Even the night concierge was kind although he didn't speak English too well, you could tell he cared about the guests.
Very good value for your money here.

Great location, great price and great staff. Would definitely recommend it to people looking for cheaper accommodation (well cheap in comparison to other Venice hotels). It was great to step out of the front door and be right in the midst of it all. Fantastic holiday.
Great Location!

This hotel was so nice and in a great location right off of St Mark's Square (right by Mc Donalds). It was very easy to find and get to. No canals to cross. Although it did have two long, narrow flights of stairs to go up to just get to the office and then an extra 1 to 2 flights to your room. People with lots of luggage beware.
Very clean and simple room without a lot of room in between the two single beds. The bathroom within our room was clean and decent size.
The staff was nice and friendly and able and willing to answer most of our questions.
There was some bells ringing in the morning but since this was my friend and I third week in Italy, they did not bother us that much.
Would highly recommend this hotel to travelers.
Great location and staff

For 60 Euro a night (double wo toilet), there is nothing more to complain about. The shared toilet was quite lovely and clean. The location is ideal and the staff is very friendly. They were so kind to allow me to put my lugguage from afternoon till nite. Some might complain that there is no elevator. and the rooms are so small that i could barely walk in it. But I like this hotel and i would definitely go back again next time!

I really enjoyed staying at the Ai Do Mori.. It has a wonderful location, the price was great, and the staff is very corteous and helpful (except the old guy who works the night desk doesn't speak English).
If you have lots of luggage or a physical disability, you would NOT want to stay here because it required 80+ steps to get to our room.
