More about La Locandiera
Overall, a terrific experience.
by TripAdvisor Member LFA
La Locandiera is located close to St. Mark's Square, yet on a quiet little piazza. The staff is warm and helpful, accomodations are very nicely furnished and appointed, and the price is right.
It is easily reachable by water taxi or vaporetto from San Zaccaria stop.
A terrific combination.

I've been meaning to write a review since our September 2005 trip to Venice and our 3-night stay at the La Locandiera, but never got around to it. I see many, many positive reviews have poured in during the past year. Our room was on the 2nd floor, overlooking the front of the hotel. A large room, with a double bed and a single bed, desk, armoire, dresser, TV, etc. Nice size bathroom. Adequate breakfast. Elevator. This is a small place, but the location is FANTASTIC, once you find it for the first time. If I am lucky enough to return to Venice I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else.
Beautiful, immaculate and convenient

We stayed at La Locandiera for one night in August. It is absolutely lovely. Our double room overlooked a small canal which was a wonderful surprise since we had not requested a canal view.
The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is well-appointed and sparkling clean. The building was renovated and turned into a hotel in 2005, so all the fixtures are new and modern.
The hotel is located a very short walk from Piazza San Marco and the Doge's Palace. It is on a quiet, picturesque courtyard. Honestly, it couldn't have been more convenient.
Breakfast was fine, nothing spectacular but adequate.
My only issue was the a/c. The room was not as cool as we'd have liked at the start, but it was easily remedied. It turns out that the air-conditioning unit is located at the base of the window. The windows have full-length drapes that cover the a/c unit. So to get proper circulation, you need to pull the drapes up and over to the side. Once I did that, the room was comfortably cool.
Clean, Comfortable, Great Location!

Stayed one night post-cruise on 9/23. The staff speaks english well, they glady kept our luggage all day prior to check-in, and even offered us breakfast on arrival. They were helpful in every way. The room was excellent, huge by european stds and the bathroom was immaculate. Would recommend this place to anyone as it is within 5-10 minutes walking to just about everything. The prices are also reasonable.
Beautiful Hotel in Venice, helpful staff

We enjoyed this hotel, very close to St Mark's Square. Great price for the location. Good location from which to explore the town. Lovely owners and staff who were very helpful especially Valerie who arranged for us a very nice excursion to Murano Burano and Torciello Islansd. We would highly reccomend this hotel.
Fantastic Location

We stayed here for 3 nights in Sept 2006 and were really happy with our choice. Once again, we found it via Tripadvisor and all of the reviews were true to their word - a really welcoming reception and friendly staff. The rooms were actually quite large with a nicely furnished bathroom - good sized bath but no standing shower - however this wasn't a problem as had a very powerful attachment. Everything was very clean and well kept.
You cannot fault the location - a 2 min walk from St Mark's Square and a 5 min walk from the Rialto Bridge. Who could ask for more?!! Well worth the money and would stay here again when we return.
There are many lovely restaurants nearby and some particularly lovely fish restaurants by the Rialto which we visited on our last night. Here you can sit outside just by the waterfront with the Rialto literally 200 metres away. And amazing food of course! You will be spoilt for choice where to dine - and all within a 5 - 10 min stroll. Perfect!!
Better than expected

Stayed in late August at this superb hotel provided excellent while accompanying my parents to a family wedding in Europe.
The lifts, the good floors, safe bathrooms and very helpful staff made travelling with my aged parents very 'user friendly' for those with a mobility problem.
Our room was spotless, spacious with a canal view as well as an immense and extremely comfortable bed. Breakfast was plentiful, catered well for a variety of tastes and the freshly baked crossiants and rolls baked on the premise were a real treat.
This hotel was far superior and only slightly more expensive than where I had stayed nearby during my previous visit to Venice.
I could not more highly recommended this hotel which was well beyond our expectations !
Gorgeous spacious rooms

Wow. The rooms looked like they came from a 5 star hotel. They were beautifully decorated with fine draperies , marble floors, iron beds, and a very modern bathroom. The rooms were large, spacious, and airy. The customer service was good, and the hotel was very close to Saint Mark's, but a bit tucked away. No problems with noise or smells. The hotel also felt very safe- you had to buzz for entrance. Big thumbs-up.
loved it

I stayed here with my boyfriend in November 2006 and it was a beautiful hotel, good price, clean rooms, very nice staff, nice breakfast, i couldnt fault it on anything, if I were going back to venice I wouldnt stay anywhere else. We have already recommended it to others!
Good hotel, very close to St Mark's square

The hotel is very comfortable and the rooms are nicely decorated. Our room was on the 1st floor and it was facing a small canal, which was quite pretty. On the negative side it was a bit noisy in the evening when the staff would bring the plates and cuttlery from the kitchen (which was on the 1st floor) to the downstairs breakfast area.
Overall we did enjoy our stay but if we are going to Venice again we'd like to stay in a less touristy area (as far as we saw all areas are very pretty, with canals, etc and travelling between places by the bus boat doesnt take that long).
