More about Liassidi Palace Hotel
Loved it, loved it, loved it.
We have just returned from the Liassidi Palace Hotel after a three night stay. My wife and I travelled with our 14 yr old son and required a triple room with views, these are a rarity in Venice. However, after emailing the Liassidi, Claudio on the front desk assured us that they could accommodate our needs, and they did not disappoint us. We were allocated a large corner room on the 4th floor with lovely views (see pictures). We later found out that we had been upgraded and our room was in fact, a junior suite...we would have paid for this upgrade as the room was that good.
The Liassidi is just far enough away from the gift shop areas around St Marco to give you a feel of the old Venice. However, it is only a five minute stroll through quaint alleyways if you want to be in the St Marco Piazza and Vaperetto docks.
Being a small hotel the Liassidi doesn't have the husstle and bustle associated with large hotels, so if you want to be next to large numbers of people and spend the evening in a busy lounge bar it won't be for you.
If what you require is a refined hotel in a great location then the Liassidi is the place... We will return in the future but fear that "our" room will be fully booked. Well done Claudio & staff.....
Loved this hotel!
Stayed here in December 2004. Excellent location, 5 mins St Marks, in great area with plenty of good retaurants nearby. Hotel management and service very obliging - upgraded our room, which was of a really good standard with jaccuzzi and canal view, for no extra charge. Free trip to Murano included. Allowed us to leave our luggage on the last day, so we could enjoy a bit more sightseeing before our flight. Public rooms also of a very high standard. V good buffet breakfast.
great location great room
this hotel is great in terms of location and accomadations. the jacuzzi was fabulous! the hospitality of the staff was lacking but hopefully they can get better. I booked through a website and had several problems and the staff was difficult to deal with. make sure to double check your reservation and your stay will be great.
Everything You Would Want
All the previous posted descriptions describing the elegance and charm of this hotel are accurate. I've been to Venice in the past and I have stayed in hotels that are more expensive, however, I don't think their amenities are worth the price. The next time I return, this is the place I will stay. What I really like about the hotel is that it is close to the center of activity, but in an area that is residential. If you exit the hotel and go to the right you will be entering the tourist area. On the other hand, if you make a left and go walk over the bridge, you are in on the edge of where the locals live and where I loved to explore.
This hotel is a real find in a city full of overpriced hotels. The location is excellent, enough away from the hordes of S. Marco to be quiet, yet central to everything. Our room was tiny and probably should have asked to change it but we were so tired when we got there that we just stayed put. But everything was new and very clean and one window opened up to the courtyard. Breakfast room was charming with tables by the window right on the canal--watching the gondola traffic in the morning was definitely the way to have your coffee. Breakfast was more than adequate and included in the price of the room. Finding a decent restaurant for dinner was more of a problem--only one out of three recommended by the staff was good. But staff went out of their way to be accomodating--very pleasant and friendly.
Classy Hotel in Classical Venice
Stayed here with my boyfriend for his birthday this year in March. It was a surprise break and I had several communication/s with the hotel prior to our trip in order to make sure everything had been booked as per my plan - for which they were very helpful and yes it did all go as planned! He had no idea about the break until early hours of the morning - when we had to get up and ready for the airport. On arrival to the hotel - rest assured that all the magnificent reports about this place are absolutely true! Its a lovely hotel where all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. As a bonus, its next door to a greek chuch, great if you're greek like me (home from home!). Room was lovely (jacuzzi was great) and as for the walk to the touristy areas it was lovely be far enough away from this so that a gentle walk there meant you can enjoy the "local" sites as well. To top it all we had snow during our break which for us, made it more romantic, snow did settle, but the alleys were all cleared making it safe to walk around. The hotel was definitely a very good part of the break; clean, friendly staff, good location, good breakfast buffet, nicely decorated etc. the one and only negative was the fact that the bar was not open at all throughout our stay we were told that it was open during peak months, real shame we thought as the hotel were fully booked during our stay. Nonetheless we found that across the bridge from the hotel, down the steps to the left there was quite a nice little bar where staff were friendly too. Don't hesitate book this hotel its a gem!
Jacuzzi? Not likely...
We stayed in this hotel for three nights in March 2005 and had been excited about it for months after reading the great reviews and seeing gorgeous pictures of the hotel. We paid rather more than usual (in fact a fortune) but were looking forward to our large room and jacuzzi raved about everyone else!
Hotel in a fantastic location, quiet yet right near the main sights and on a very sexy little bridge and canal. First impressions are great, very picturesque and people walking by would actually stop to have a look.
Our room was really disappointing and absolutely tiny, just room for the bed. If you want to feel like Harry Potter living in his cupboard this is the room for you. Unfortunately no canal view for us, in fact no view at all as it was very dark. The bedding and furniture were obviously of a very good standard.
The bathrooom looked a treat but the shower was freezing or boiling hot which was not very relaxing or condusive to a good mood in the mornings. Toilet flush coming away from the wall.
Just a further whinge, on the first day after a tiring days sight-seeing we returned at 7pm to find the room had not been cleaned, cleaners then walked in when we getting changed! Not a pretty sight. We then had to leave for half an hour so they could clean the room which was a big pain.
Breakfast nice and in lovely location overlooking canal.
Venice was absolutely beautiful and incredible, lovely weather and we were heartbroken to leave the city. We had some amazing food this time, try the Jewish Quarter for some nice restaurants.
The room we had was a bit of a nightmare and we should have complained. However from reading the rest of the reviews this does not seem to be the norm and we were a bit unlucky. We are not jealous at all of every one else's jacuzzi and romantic views. Enjoy! Grrr...
