They charged me twice!! :-((

The receptionist on our check-out said my visa couldn't go through (??) and I paid in cash.
When I got my first Visa statement upon our return to home, I saw the same charge did went through! :-((
A dispute file has been opened with the bank, and waiting... 3 months now... it looks I won't get my money back... :-(((

Otherwise, not bad hotel, for that price...

Any suggestion on where to find a listing of Moderately prices hotels in Venice my budget is $100-$200 per night.

If you type Venice + hotels in the upper right hand search box and choose "keyword" from the drop down menu, you will get a lot of suggestions from VTers who have written tips or asked similar questions.

Take a look at booking.com it is UK based, I use it all the time. Great prices and it will have many hotels for you to view.

Both www.venere.com and www.booking.com are reliable sites with good mapping and honest guest reviews. They do not charge you unleass you do not turn up; you pay the hotel as normal.

Venere is preferable for Italy, because it lists almost all Italian hotels, with some b&bs and apartments also.

I use one or the other for all my European travels. Check rates for hotels on both, because they sometimes vary.

Rates are usually lower than the hotels' own websites.

You can also try alpharooms.com I use them plus booking.com almost exclusively unless I book with directly with the accommodation.

To add to above suggestions, Trip Advisor is good for ratings and comments. For best deals I usually use a combination of Trip Advisor and travelsupermarket.com. We stayed at the Hotel Mary in Campalto (Minotel group, not to be confused with Hotel Mary in Vicenza). This is a 3 star, well under your budget. Campalto is much cheaper than Venice and is only about 20 minutes by bus. It is pleasant village, between Venice and the airport.

Hi! I agree with the suggestions of checking Venere and Booking.com, also checking VTers Venice Hotels and accommodations tips. I've visited Venice quite a few times in the past few years and have stayed in various types of accommodation. How long will you be staying in Venice, is it just yourself or more that will be staying here?

You may be better off going self catering, with the cost of eating out and the 'chef's special' scam you may find you can save money even though the apartments are a little more in the first place. Check out Hotel da Bruno, they do self catering too.

Self catering as an option probably depends on how long you intend to stay in Venice, and how many are travelling-if only one person and/or only one to 2 nights, it might still be cheaper to book hotel.

In my experience, it is always cheaper for a single person to use a hotel for short stays in Venice or anywhere else.

As Sue notes, apartments only work out cheaper for longer stays, or if there are 2+.

it's not a listing but just a small hotel that I need suggest you: Locanda Ca' San Marcuola http://www.casanmarcuola.com/
It’s a convenient to the train station and ten minutes' walk to Rialto Bridge. The staff was really friendly and helpful, the room seemed recently renovated, clean and with a nice canal view. Highly recommended!

There is a whole range of prices and varieties to buy back for own or family or friends.

The small gondolier's hats are unique and cheaper. Or a face mask. Perhaps a nice red Venetian glass vase. Little puppets. The list goes on.

Happy shopping and you can always take a picture of something you cannot afford to carry around or pay for.

Venice is a set of islands connected by bridges. Every year November 21th Venice celebrate the Virgin that saved the populations from the black plague. The Municipality build a floating bridge made of boat to easy the access to the sanctuary because loads of pilgrim come to visit.
Around the Salute Church there will be stand selling votive candles fot those who like to take one and the traditional fruit candies.
