see the palaces and museums and you must take a trip to Venice's islands: Murano, Burano, ... I like the sun and the sea in Venice. Venice is full of treasures of art, history and architecture.
Venice are also an island of love and romance ...
Doorknob
by nighthawk
Walking randomly through the little streets I was surprised by the many funny details houses had, like this doorknob.
If I had to go look for it, I am sure I wouldn t be able to find it again tho :-)
Isola di Sant' Elena
by sandysmith
A bit further over from Castello area is Isola di Sant' Elena- a little island in itself connected by a bridge to Castello area. Many of Sant'Elena's houses are painted in strong colours, not unlike houses on the fishing and lace making island of Burano. The mostly late 19th and early 20th Century architecture makes Sant'Elena feel more like a small Italian town than a district of Venice--albeit a town that's blessedly free of cars and motor scooters. The Marina and football Stadium are in this area too. Its quite a delightful place to wander around - seeing the local life and boat repair yards here.
The Masks
by shiran_d
The mask in the city of Venice has ancient origins and was used for many months of the year. Masks were allowed from the day of Santo Stefano, which marked the start of the Venetian carnival, to midnight of Shrove Tuesday which marked the end. (Naturally, they were forbidden on days of religious festivals).

by csordila
Have you ever seen a peaceful demonstration against the motorboats making wave-motion, that is dangerous for the city of Venice and its lagoon. If not, then you should visit the city, when the Vogalonga regatta takes place.
More than thirty years these international, non-competitive rowing festivals are organized in Venice , onto which the world rowers, kayaker, canoeists and naturally gondoliers arrive . Thirty-two kilometres of distance across the lagoons to the San Marco demands more than three hours.
The name of all participants is read out, and all of them obtains the honours of Golden Vogalonga. Any kind of water vehicle such as kayak, canoe. rowboat and of course gondola.
