i was in Ca Amadi in may 2004 with my family (my wife and my son). I stayed here for 3 nights into the suite (2 large room). Typical hotel in Venetian style
...this picture of our room looks a lot better than the outside doesn't it.
Everything was very clean, matrasses were not worn out (important for me with beat up intervertebral discs) and the bathroom was nice and clean too.
Almost forgot, the location was fantastic, close to everything but at southern tip of the Cannaregio quarter that wasn't as touristy as other parts of Venice. There where some good restaurants nearby.
I read somewhere that Marco Polo lived in the Palazzo Amadi as a kid, but don't know if thats true. Forgot to ask the owners.
Locanda Ca Amadi: Very central but still hidden and quiet

When we first arrived at the Ca Amadi and I saw it from the outside I thought "Oh my god, what did I book". It really looked like a ruin as you can see on the pic, but once you walk up the steps and enter the reception hall your in another world.
The hotel is very small I think they only have 7 rooms, two big ones that face the canal, ours was a lot smaller but cheaper and had windows to the patio. First I was a bit disappointed that we didn't have one of the canal view rooms. But sitting at breakfast in the morning and hearing motorboats on the canal and people talking loudly from the next bridge I think ours was a lot quieter.
Breakfast was basic like always in Italian hotels but I prefer having my cappucino at the neigbourhood bar anyway.
I'll finish this tip with a second hotel entry so that you can see the inside too....lots better :-))
