I thought I'd learned my lesson - booking unknown quantities in Venice! It appears not. Having been reassured by slick internet ad, I felt confident we weren't taking undue risks..beautiful views, superb looking rooms etc etc...It's a pity the 'hotel' didn't tell us at the time of booking that we were about to be located in the rafters...view - a chimney!! and filthy curtains at both windows. The breakfast was appalling - tables situated in a corridor area onto which rooms proper opened up. The reception area was the size of a lift and was manned by a yound man responsible for seemingly everything - clearing of tables, explanations that 'most people like the room'etc. Needless to say it was one of those places which is basically a slice of a larger property, run shabbily on a shoestring, purporting to be 3 star but worth 1...and of course the responsibility of absentee management who just happen to be 'on holiday' when things go pear shaped. We were only in Venice for 2 days and were in the end rescued by a remaining room at the Giorgione at a similar price.Comparitive luxury Absolute nightmare and to be avoided at all costs by anyone hoping to relax after a busy day in this otherwise wonderful city.
Next time we'll be booking the Giorgione BEFORE the flight!
