Excellent all round
Great,very helpful staff,really friendly.
Breakfast was bought up to the room,it consisted of Hot Chocolate,!!!!!,Orange juice,bread,croissants,and some fruit.It was fine,and set us up for the days exploring ahead !!

Giovanni e Paolo, nice
Calle Ospedaletto, in Castello. Nearby to the large church Giovanni e Paolo, this little place has eight nice rooms, and ours was on the top floor. They serve breakfast in your room, which is air-conditioned, and the location is close enough to the centre to be accessible, but in a quiet enough area not to be too packed with camera-toters. I think though if you don’t like tourists, you shouldn’t come to Venice, but it’s nice to escape the madness. It cost us 110€ a night.

It would be better to book a room in Mestre. This is a town not far from Venice.
There you should find some cheap room.

I'm off to venice in middle of jan and i booked a hotel on www.octopustravel.com. i always use this site and find it really useful. I was advised to book in actual venice and not mestre. you'll find it under the location "venice island"

Try superbreaks.com. We stayed at the Bellini for 90E per night and the room should have been 450E per night.
Mestre is a long way from Venice and you would have to get transport to and from the island every day rather than just walking out of your hotel and being there!

HI. Just back from Venice. I always book direct. Not worth paying commissions to reservations systems. I stayed at a nice guesthouse (sort of very small hotel)(Locanda ss. Giovanni e Paolo, www.locandassgiovannipaolo.it), minutes from San Marco, at a reasonable price.
