 | Venice Locanda San Barnaba Reviews | 1 - 2 of 2 | |
View From The Balcony by jag17 After a 9 year restoration, the Locanda San Barnaba is open. A very friendly staff in a beautiful hotel. All of the rooms on the 2nd floor open up into a beautiful salon decorated with a piano, stained glass, and frescoes. We had a Jr Suite that looked out over one of the smaller canals on one side, and the internal garden on the other side. Enjoy breakfast in the courtyard with the water slapping up against the walls and the church bells ringing in the distance.
The hotel is just a short walk from the vaporetto stop. This made our arrival fairly easy. After a long travel day, we were very pleased to not have to drag our luggage a very long distance.

The pictures on the website for this hotel do NOT do it justice! The rooms were beautiful, clean and spacious (the website makes it appear dingy, dark, small and almost hostel like). We were awe struck and so pleasently surprised to find the exact opposite! We stayed in one of the Junior Suites and one of the Double Superior rooms. Most all of the rooms begin on the second floor and go up from there (there are lots of stairs, my person favorite!) There is no lift, however the staff are very accommodating and help with luggage, etc. There is one room on the ground floor equipped for wheelchair access and it is also quite lovely and quiet. The hotel has a terrace upstairs to enjoy as well as a ground floor patio/courtyard where breakfast is served. You can also enjoy the courtyard for an afternoon tea or cocktail from the bar. The location is very convenient and just steps away from the Public Water Taxi stop (aka the vaporetto) and only 2 stops from San Marco in one direction and the Rialto Bridge in the other. It is also in walking distance to both as well.
Breakfast included. Wonderful architectural detail preserved throughout hotel!
